Presidents Workshop Proposal "IFMSA Leaders Brought Together"

Introduction
The International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) brings together around 1.3 million medical students across 5 continents with its over 100 national member organizations. It develops medical students to be future health leaders in different parts of the world. This is done through providing several opportunities to gain new skills and knowledge of global health aspects and other public health issues. The national member organizations presidents are the leaders at national level who has been working very hard to lead their members, activities and projects that shape IFMSA. Such high role can be very hard and challenging due to the great amount of work, achiving the right national and internatiinal balance and reaching the mission and objectives of the organization. Pre-GA presidents workshop will provide new skills, produce ideas and solve presidents current problems with their rules. Such workshop will bring all the leaders together to modify themselves and open their minds to different thoughts and prespectives.

Goals and Objectives


To provide trainings in several soft skills for the participants, including: o Communication o Leadership o Conflict management To develop the National Member Organizations (NMOs) by defining problems and setting solutions To get to know other presidents and their NMO to share ideas and experiences To define IFMSA role at their society level To increase awareness about IFMSA work and structure To set a vision and possibilities at national and international levels

To train presidents on the proper skills for NMO management

Expected Number of Participants


The workshop will be help for up to 25 students. Its open for all NMO presidents, their executive board members and other members with official position at their NMO. The priority will go to presidents. To have an equal representation for NMOs, no more than 1 delegate from each NMO will be accepted unless there is room. The priority goes to applicants attending presidents workshop for the first time.

Methodology
Several methods will be applied: 1. Training sessions 2. Group discussions 3. Presentations 4. Small working groups 5. Team building activities

Proposed List of speakers/Trainers


This workshop will be coordinated by IFMSA Vice President for Internal Affairs (me). EB members and Regional Coordinators will be asked for their input. All IFMSA officials are welcomed to deliver training sessions and be part of the discussion facilitation however main coordination will be by the VPI. A possibility to invite external trainers to touch upon several main aspects (e.g. policy statements, advocacyetc) is present. Presidents and other IFMSA trainers can deliver some sessions. A call will be sent on NMO server for recruitment once feasible and accepted.

Follow up Plan
All the materials and discussion results used will be compied and sent to all participants after the workshop. The workshop will be evaluated and the results will be used to modify the next presidents workshop.

Proposed Agenda
The agenda is yet to be finalized. Input will be asked from all EB members and regional coordinators to develop the agenda day by day. In general, the workshop will start at 9:00 AM to 17:00 providing three breaks: 2 coffee breaks and 1 break for lunch. The provisional list of topics that will be delivered: 1. Fundraising and financial managment
2. Motivation 3. Time management 4. Leadership 5. Handover 6. Intro to IFMSA 7. Communication skills 9. Public speaking 10.Efcient use of emails and online communication 11. Policy statments 12. IFMSA meetings managment

Fundraising Plan and Budget


The budget is 0 EUR and the workshop can run without any funds. The workshop will only need the basic requirments provided by the Organizing Committee including flipcharts, markers, post-its, pens...etc.
