Dear Friend, Greetings and Happy New Year! Many wonderful things took place this past year but we are facing a New Year with a greater determination to serve the Lord than ever before! The Apostle Paul wrote, ...forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3: 13 & 14). Sometimes you have to press your way to where the blessings of God are. Sometimes it isnt always an easy thing to do, but with the help of God we can do all things through Christ which strengthens us! We must remember that God is with us, helping us to be overcomers in this life. No matter what the situation is that you find yourself in, Jesus will help you if you let Him work His work in you. There is a wonderful Christian woman that comes to our church. She has been working at a company for several years and is a good worker but hasnt had a raise for a long time. She didnt complain about it but I know it bothered her for quite a while. She came to the altar at the close of a recent service and I was asked to pray for her. In my prayer for her I asked the Lord to prosper her and give her a raise. A week or so later she came to the church very excited and testified that she received a $10,000 raise! This raise came because she faithfully sowed her finances each week into the kingdom of God. Some blessings are given because we sow them. It took a while for her to reap the blessing, but when His blessings come it is a tree of life! Sometimes we go along in life and our hearts become cold to the things of God. We get stuck in a rut, doing the same old things day in and day out. Just like the fire in the fireplace, sometimes we need to get some air on those smoldering embers and throw more wood on the fire and get the fire going again! Jeremiah went through a period like that. He heard a lot of stuff and he quit prophesying because people gave him a difficult time. He heard slander and the more he spoke for God the more people would persecute him. But he came to a place where he couldnt hold it in any longer. He said, But His Word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary of forbearing, and I could not stay (Jeremiah 20:9). The Word of God is the substance that makes up our faith. If you have no Word in you, you will have no faith. And faith is said to be the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The Spirit of

God feeds off of the Word that dwells in your heart. He is the air or oxygen that blows on the Word inside you and brings it to life! A good church will allow the move of the Spirit of God in that assembly. You can have religion and dry up and the zeal for the things of God can die down and finally go out. This is called backsliding. Suddenly you are left to your own ways, which is never good! The Holy Spirit brings to life the things you were taught about God and causes you to come to life and actually live those things. Wouldnt it be wonderful if you came alive for God again?!! There would never be another excuse of why you arent blessed. You cant say the blessings or healings or the move of the Spirit went out years ago when the disciples died because the Lord is doing those things in you now! Youre believing God for miracles and He is performing them in your life! Your prayer life has taken on a new dimension because you are believing God for the miraculous and He loves to do things no one else can do! For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him (2 Chronicles 16:9). Let me ask you, how is your heart going into this New Year? Is it filled with the peace of God? Do you put your confidence in yourself, or in the Lord? Do you have a perfect, peaceable, and whole heart that the Lord can pour His Spirit into? Or is your heart broken? Is it cracked by the pressures of this life? Have you lost your faith, your hope, your love for God and His people? Are things so different for you that you no longer feel compelled to go to church and get filled up? Bring all the broken pieces to Jesus and let Him bind up your brokenness. Let Him repair and restore you and make you brand new. Thats what He does: He is the Savior of all mankind. And He will rescue you from all despair. If you have no church let me invite you to ours. We are located at 624 Torringford West Street in Torrington, CT.
