Separated, Saturated and Situated

Scripture Thought for the Week: Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he mediates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. Psalm 1: 1-3
Having a clean slate is still resonating with me as a new calendar year begins. Having been a teacher in a classroom that was equipped with a blackboard and chalk, I always enjoyed starting each day with a clean board. It held the promise of a day full of learning and sharing information with the adults of tomorrow. Equally important is passing along spiritual truths not only to the adults of tomorrow, but to reflect upon them in our own lives. As this new slate unfolds, I am beginning to read through the Book Psalms once again. The first chapter starts off with a bang as Christians are reminded not to walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. Do you see the progression? Walking turns to standing and standing turns to sitting. Each action is more deliberate than the one before. The first point to be made is; be separated from the world. Dont allow yourselves to be drawn in gradually by walking, standing or sitting in the company of sinners. This doesnt mean not to associate or witness before them, but dont allow yourself to be taken in. The second point; be delighted in the law of the Lord, mediate on His Word day and night. In other words, be saturated in the Word of God. Allow His Words to be in your heart, on your mind and constantly on your tongue. Meditation is allowing the scriptures to be digested within your mind, heart and soul. The Bible is our spiritual nourishment. Lastly, when we are separated from the world, saturated in the Word, we will then yield fruit (other souls) because we will be as a tree planted by streams of water! We will experience being situated by the spiritual waters of Jesus Christ! Now thats a progression I want to experience!

Father, thank you for this beautiful chapter in scripture which reminds us to be separated from the world, saturated in the Word and situated by the waters. I am humbled and so thankful for Warren Wiersbe who has guided my study through the Book of Psalms these past five years. I continue to learn as Gods Word continues to be living, breathing and Holy! Thank you, Jesus! Amen!
