Whats in Soil?
Purpose: To discover the different materials that is found in soil. Question: What types of materials are found in soil? Hypothesis: I think I will find ________________________________in my soil sample. (write what you think you will find in soil) Materials: Sample of soil Hand lens pencil paper towel or paper plate toothpick

Procedure: 1. Get a soil sample from the teacher. 2. Place the soil on the napkin or plate. 3. Observe the soil with the hand lens. Move the soil around with the toothpick and observe again. 4. Place a tally mark each time you observe one of the materials in the soil. 5. Total your tally marks. 6. Return the soil to your teacher and clean up any spills.
