Introduction to Formula One Welcome to 2012 Indian Grand Prix scheduled at Buddh International Circuit (BIC) Formula One, also known as Formula 1 or F1 or Grand Prix is the highest class of single seater auto racing sanctioned by the Fdration Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The F1 season consists of a series of races, held on purpose-built circuits and occasionally on street circuits. The result of each race is combined to determine two annual FIA Formula One World Championships, one for the Drivers who are required to be holders of valid Super License, the highest class of racing license issued by the FIA and one for the Constructors. Formula One cars are considered to be the fastest circuit-racing cars in the world. Formula Onecars race at speeds of up to 318 km/h (192 mph). 2. Buddh International Circuit Welcome to India, one of the fastest evolving countries in the World. India is well known for the most colorful fairs and festivals with the month of October 2012 hosting the festival of Dussehra or Vijayadashmi in honour of the victory of Lord Rama over demon Ravana. It is a celebration of the victory of good over evil. The festival of Dussehra will be followed by one of the biggest sporting spectacle, Formula 1 Airtel Indian Grand Prix at Buddh International Circuit (BIC), located in Greater Noida. BIC is located just 35 km from New Delhi. No Dream Too Big The face of motorsport in India changed with the successful hosting of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix in 2011 at BIC The track is the jewel in the crown of Jaypee Sports City being developed in 2500 acres, comprising a number of world class sporting venues, stunning residential developments and commercial properties. The track has been designed by the well known German architect Hermann Tilke, who also happens to be the man behind other legendary tracks.

4. Guidelines

General Guidelines: a) Considering the fact that 100,000 spectators will be coming to BIC, your travel time to the Circuit might take much longer than normal. Therefore, please keep extra travel time in mind to reach BIC on time to enjoy all Race events. b) The events on all three days are spread from morning till evening. You are requested to plan your itinerary accordingly. c) The gates will open at 9:30 a.m. on the race days. d) Buddh International Circuit is conveniently divided into four colour zones. The colour marked as on your event ticket corresponds to the colour of that zone; viz- Yellow for North Zone, Red for West Zone, Green for South Zone and Blue for East Zone.( For location please see the map on page no 5.) 3

You are requested to adhere to your zone colour and follow the signages while trying to reach the circuit and while approaching your respective stand. f) Children Children below 5 (five) years are not allowed inside the circuit. Parents and guardians should ensure that children wear correct hearing protection at all times due to extreme volume of noise. g) Help Desk Bilingual volunteers in BIC uniform are there to assist you with queries. There are 5 Help Desks at the circuit. Please follow the signages to reach the nearest Help Desk. BEWARE OF COUNTERFEIT TICKETS!! h) Food & Beverage and Entertainment Personal food items are not allowed inside BIC. Food & beverages will be available near/next to every stand. You would need to consume the eatables in the designated areas only as they will not be allowed inside the stands / seating area. BIC merchandise is available for sale at the circuit. For your convenience there are ATMs installed at various locations within BIC. F1 Village has been ear marked for fun activities, fun zone and sale of official merchandise. For ease of understanding the zone wise map is provided below. Please refer to your event ticket to identify your zone and stand and locate the nearest facilities around your seat. *(For location please see the circuit map on page no.5)

i) Health and Safety Your safety is our concern. Medical units are located all around the circuit for any unforeseen incident. As noise level during the event can be extreme at times visitors are strongly advised to use ear plugs which will be sold at the circuit. Please pay attention to warning signs for hazardous or restricted access areas. Motorsports can be dangerous and visitors must, at all times, adhere to all safety instructions from officials and the police. j) Security You are requested to remain alert and on look out for any suspicious person or suspicious object/item near your seating area, parking area and F & B area. For security reasons, you may be subjected to personal screening, frisking and search. Your vehicle will also be subjected to security check. Kindly co-operate with security personnel in such checking. At the circuit, spectators are required to conduct themselves decently and not to cause any inconvenience, trouble or harassment to other spectators. Acquaint yourself with the entire route / time plan to reach the parking area and the zone without any hassle. For convenience follow the road signages. For your safety, security and convenience follow instructions of the security personnel.

k) List of prohibited items Any prohibited items, if brought at the venue by mistake, may be left in your vehicle or else will have to be thrown in the bin. There is no locker facility at the circuit. Large hand bags, brief cases, large ladies hand bags, backpacks, packets Since smoking in public places is prohibited by law, please do not carry cigar, cigarette, beedi, match box, lighter etc. Any kind of cooked / uncooked, packed / unpacked food & beverages (both alcoholic and non alcoholic) Glass/plastic containers, cans, bottles, smoke canister and any type of box Pets Professional audio visual equipment, professional cameras Any fire arm/weapon (even licensed) any other object which can be used as a weapon, fireworks, crackers, flares, inflammable material, and laser pointers Musical instruments and/or amplification equipments, whistles / loud hailers Bicycle, scooter, skate board, roller blade etc. Chairs, stools, small tables, flags with poles Any other item prohibited by law specifically or considered to be a risk to the safety and security of the circuit and spectators

Transport and Parking

Driving down to Buddh International Circuit DIRECTIONS FROM DELHI Buddh International Circuit is located in Greater Noida, in the upcoming Jaypee Sports City. The circuit is well connected by a 6-lane Yamuna Expressway which further connects to Delhi by another 6-lane NOIDA-Greater NOIDA Expressway. The circuit is easily accessible from Delhi and NOIDA. Vehicle check point will be operational at Yamuna Expressway and NOIDA-Gr. NOIDA expressway interchange. Depending on traffic congestion at the interchange, your vehicle will either be allowed to enter Yamuna Expressway or can be diverted straight to Pari Chowk from where you can take Surajpur-Kasna Road to reach the circuit. Please refer the map at page 9 for exact directions. There are several routes available from Delhi: 1. NIZAMUDDIN BRIDGE: From Delhi, you can take ring road and then Nizamuddin Bridge to reach NOIDA-link Road which further connects to NOIDA-Greater NOIDA Expressway and then to Yamuna Expressway. 2. NOIDA-DELHI TOLL BRIDGE (DND) - From Delhi, you can also take ring road and then DND toll. Take the second left loop after crossing the toll gate to reach NOIDA-Greater NOIDA Expressway and then Yamuna Expressway. 3. KALINDI KUNJ BRIDGE- Drive on Mathura road past Apollo Hospital and take left towards Kalindi Kunj Bridge to reach Mahamaya Flyover and take left loop to get on NOIDA-Greater NOIDA Expressway. 4. VIKAS MARG (ITO) BRIDGE: You can also take Vikas Marg from ITO to cross river Yamuna by Vikas Marg bridge and then take a right to reach NOIDA LINK Road. NOIDA link road further connects to NOIDA-Greater NOIDA Expressway and then to Yamuna Expressway. NOTE: If you have purchased a Buddh International Circuit car or Two wheeler parking permit, you can drive down and park around the circuit. You can reach the Circuit from Yamuna Expressway. You have to leave the expressway either at Exit 2A, Exit 2B or Exit 2C depending on your parking permits. Leave Yamuna Expressway at Exit-2A if you have a North or West Zone Permit, at Exit 2B if you have Paddock Zone Permit and Exit 2C if you have an East or South Zone parking permit. Easy to follow directional signs all along Yamuna Expressway and circuit roads will also help you reach your parking lot. PARK and RIDE: If you have purchased a Park & Ride permit, take a diversion 500 meter before Yamuna Expressway- Gr. NOIDA expressway interchange to reach the parking lot. TAXI: If you are coming to BIC by Taxi, leave Yamuna Expressway at Exit-2C and follow directional signs to reach the taxi parking.

Important No vehicle without a valid parking permit purchased along with event tickets, will be allowed to access Buddh International Circuit road network and parking areas. It is essential to purchase vehicle permits along with event tickets if you wish to arrive at the circuit in your vehicle. General guidelines

Each colour zone at BIC has Park and Walk areas for cars, a parking area for Two wheelers and a Bus Transport Mall. The colour of these Parking lots in each zone also corresponds to the zone colour. Parking lots have been grouped in 4 zones namely North Zone- Yellow Colour, West Zone- Red Colour, South Zone-Green Colour and East Zone-Blue colour. Therefore colour of parking permit will be the same as that of event ticket. 1. Park & walk If you intend to visit the circuit in your own vehicle, you must have a valid Park & Walk permit.

to the colour of your zone. 4. From parking area, you can conveniently walk to the entry gate mentioned on your ticket. 5. Park & Walk permits shall be dispatched / distributed to you along with your tickets. You will be provided with three different parking permits each for Friday, Saturday and Sunday to be used on the respective days. 6. Read the instructions carefully printed on the reverse of your Park & Walk permit. It gives information on the route to be taken to reach the designated parking lot. 7. Affix parking permits/stickers on the front wind screen of your vehicle. Keep your ticket/pass handy to show it to security personnel on duty. 8. Please follow the signages placed at regular intervals at the circuit for your convenience. Park and Ride for Buddh International Circuit (BIC) In case you do not get parking near the circuit, Park and Ride facility is available at Knowledge Park II (Behind India Expo Center) at Greater Noida where you can park your car and avail complimentary shuttle bus to the circuit. From the 2 wheeler parking, you can conveniently walk to the entry gate mentioned on your ticket Please affix the parking permit on the front mud guard or on the front light guard. Read the instructions carefully printed on the reverse of the permit for information on the route to be taken for reaching the designated parking lot.

Bus Service from Delhi to Buddh International Circuit (BIC) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. JPSI is offering BIC bus services from Noida City Center, to Buddh International Circuit. To avail the service you are required to purchase bus tickets in advance provided you have already bought the Indian Grand Prix event tickets. You will be provided with three different tickets for three event days. Bus ticket will entitle you to a bus travel to and fro from the circuit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Buses will be plying from 8.00 a.m. and thereafter every 30 minutes. Last bus will leave at about 12:30 p.m. on all three days. (schedule subject to change) From each BIC Bus Stand, buses will depart to each colour coded circuit zone (North, West, South and East). Make sure that you board the bus corresponding to zone written on your event ticket. Your bus ticket shall be dispatched / distributed to you along with your event tickets. You will be required to show your bus ticket as well as the event ticket before boarding the BIC Bus Stand. Make sure you carry your bus ticket with you at all times to avail of the bus service. Your bus ticket 8. contains a unique bar code which will be checked at bus boarding area. Buses will start plying in the evening only after the last event of the day is over.

Taxi for Buddh International Circuit (BIC) 1. Buddh International Circuit has facilitated free access to all Taxi services operating in NCR. 2. Dedicated parking lot has been created in East Zone of the Circuit from where you can either walk to your stand or take Circuit Circular Shuttle Bus to your stand. 3. Entry to taxi parking lot is from South Zone Gate. While on the Yamuna Expressway, take Exit 12 to enter the circuit through South Zone gate. 4. Please read the circuit map and the route map from Delhi provided on page no. 5 and 13 respectively for your convenient arrival and departure to the circuit. Metro Train for Buddh International Circuit (BIC) 1. Delhi Metro Rail service is connected to most parts of Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida and provides economical and convenient mode of transport. 2. It is recommended that Metro service be availed from any metro station in Delhi to reach Noida City Centre Metro Station and avail BIC bus service from there. 3. Make sure that you have already booked BIC bus tickets from Nehru Place or Noida City Centre Metro Station to BIC.

9. History and Tourist attractions in and around New Delhi History The history of Delhi dates back to the time of the Indian epic Mahabharata, when it was known as Indraprastha, the city of Pandavas. According to the great epic, the place was originally a barren piece of land and was converted into a wonderful city by the efforts of the Pandavas. As other kings occupied the neighboring region, some other cities came up. Over the years these cities merged into one bustling metropolitan city, which finally emerged as the political capital of free India. Noida The city of Noida was created under the UP Industrial Area Development Act. Equipped with firstclass amenities Noida is considered to be one of the most modern city in the state of Uttar Pradesh housing some of the leading corporate houses in the country, world class shopping complexes and residences. It is also home to the Noida Film City. Weather Condition October / November is a good time to visit Delhi NCR with temperatures usually ranging between 19-35 degrees Celsius. Tourist attractions Qutub Minar Qutubuddin Aibak laid the foundation of Qutan Minar, as a victory tower, in 1199 AD. Originally, it rose to a height of 72.5 m. It is undoubtedly one of the finest stone towers in India and one of the most important landmarks of Delhi. Red Fort Shah Jahan shifted his capital from Agra to Shahjahanabad and laid the foundation of the Red Fort, or the Lal Quila, on 16th April 1639. It took nine years to build this mighty citadel and it got completed on 16th April 1648. It is said that about one crore rupees, an astronomical sum in those days, was spent on its construction. Humayun Tomb The second Mughal Emperor Humayun died just a year after he regained Delhi. His Persian wife, Hamida Begum, supervised the construction of his tomb from 1562-1572. It was designed by the Persian architect, Mirak Mirza Ghiyuath. Jantar Mantar Situated at Connaught Place area of New Delhi, Jantar Mantar is one of the five observatories built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler and founder of Jaipur, in India. Smaller than the one at Jaipur, it is still astonishing because of its capability to make accurate calculations of many astronomical movements. Akshardham Temple Akshardham temple is a magnificent Hindu shrine, situated in the east region of New Delhi. Located on the banks of river Yamuna, it was inaugurated in November 2005, by the former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Ramukh Swami Maharajah- the spiritual leader of BAPS.

India Gate The war memorial arch, India Gate, was built by the British in the honor of the unknown martyrs, who lost their lives in the First World War and Second Afghan War. Vijay Chowk (the Victory Square) is the site of Beating the Retreat ceremony held annually in New Delhi, on 29th January. Lotus Temple It was completed in 1986 and serves as the Mother Temple of the Indian subcontinent. From 2002, attracted more than 50 million visitors, making it one of the most visited buildings in the world. Lotus Temple is open to all regardless of religion, or any other distinction. Out of City Tours Taj Mahal Taj Mahal, one of the 7 wonders of the world is located in Agra, It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal is the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Persian, Turkish and Indian architectural styles. The white domed marble mausoleum is the most familiar component of the Taj Mahal; it is actually an integrated complex of structures. Jaipur Jaipur is also popularly known as the Pink City, founded on 18 November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber. The city which once had been the capital of the royalty now is the capital city of Rajasthan. The very structure of Jaipur reflects the taste of the Rajputs and the Royal families. Jaipur is famous for its forts and monuments like Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, Rambagh Palace to name a few.
