Narrator1: In the sixth month, the Angel Gabriel was sent from God to a Galilean town, Nazareth by name, to a young woman named Mary who was engaged to a man called Joseph (a descendant of King David). The angel entered her room and said: Angel 1: "Greeting to you, Mary. O favored one! - the Lord be with you!" Narrator1: Mary was deeply perturbed at these words and wondered what such a greeting could possibly mean. But the angel said to her: Angel1: "Do not be afraid Mary; God loves you dearly. You are going to be the mother of a son, and you will call him Jesus. He will be great and will be known as the Son of the most high. The Lord God will give him the throne of his forefather David, and he will be king over the people of Jacob forever. His reign shall never end." Narrator1: Then Mary spoke to the angel: Mary: "How can this be? Narrator1: She said. Mary: I am not married! Narrator1: But the angel said to her : Angel1:"The Holy Spirit will come upon you, the power of the most high will overshadow you. Your child will therefore be called holy, the Son of God. Afterwards, Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth who was also pregnant. She stayed with her three months and then went back to her own home. Narrator2: Upon her return, just before their marriage, Joseph discovered she was pregnant. It was by the Holy Spirit, but he did not know that. Joseph did not believe her story about the visit of the angel Gabriel and thought she had given herself to another man while she was visiting her cousin. - Now Joseph, her future husband, was a good man and did not want to see her disgraced (by embarrassing her publicly and refusing the marriage.) So, he planned to break off the engagement quietly. But while he was turning the matter over in his mind, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said: Angel1: Joseph, son of David, do not hesitate to take Mary as your wife. Gods Holy Spirit has made her pregnant and she will give birth to a son, whom you will call Jesus (the Savior) for it is he Who will save his people from their sins". Narrator2: When Joseph woke up he did what the angel told him. He married Mary, but did not have relations with her as a husband until after she gave birth to her son. - In Bethlehem, it was time for Mary to give birth. Joseph has to find an inn for them to stay and for Mary to give birth. Narrator2: But then, the Inn was already full. Joseph begged for help. And there was a kind-hearted man lead them to a stable and said: Man: this is all I can help. Narrator1: Joseph then carried Mary and helped her give birth.

Narrator1: She gave birth to her first child, a son. And, as there was no place for them inside the inn, she wrapped him up in a blanket and laid him in a manger. Then Joseph gave him the name Jesus, just like the Angel of the Lord told him to do. Narrator2: And there were some shepherds living in the same part of the country, keeping guard throughout the night over their flock in the open fields. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord stood by their side, and the splendour of the Lord blazed around them and they were terror-stricken. - But the angel said to them: Angel: Do not be afraid! Listen, I am here to announce a great and joyful event which is for all the people around the world. This very day, in Bethlehem, a Savior has been born for you. He is Christ, the Messiah and Lord. Let this prove it to you; you will find a baby, wrapped up and lying in a manger. Narrator1: And, in a flash, there appeared with the angel a vast host of the armies of Heaven, praising God, saying : Angels: "Glory to God in the Highest Heaven! Peace upon earth among men of goodwill!" Narrator2: The sheperds hurried to the stable. After seeing the baby, they told everyone they met what the angels had said about Jesus. Narrator1: Forty days later, Joseph and Mary brought Jesus to Jerusalem. There a man named Simon praised God for the baby, while old Anna, another servant of the Lord, gave thanks. - Both knew Jesus was Gods son, the promised Savior. Joseph sacrificed 2 birds. This was the offering Gods law said poor people should bring when they presented a newborn child to the Lord. Narrator2: Sometime later, a special star led Wise Men from an Eastern Country to Jerusalem. Melchor: Gaspar Baltasar. A star. Baltasar: Where is He Who is born King of the Jews. Narrator2: they asked. Gaspar: We want to worship him. Narrator1: King Herod heard about the Wise men. Troubled, he asked them to tell him when they found Jesus. Herod: I want to worship him too. Narrator1: But he was lying. Herod wants to kill Jesus. Narrator2: The star led the Wise men to the exact place where Mary and Joseph lived with young Child. Kneeling in worship, the travelers gave Jesus gold, frankincense, and myrrh as their gifts. Narrator1: God warned the Wise men to return home secretly. Herod was furious. Determined to destroy Jesus, the wicked ruler killed all boy babies in Bethlehem. Narrator2: But Herod could not harm Gods Son! Warned in a dream, Joseph took Mary and Jesus safety in Egypt. - When Herod died. Joseph brought Mary and Jesus back from Egypt. They lived in the little town of Nazareth, near the Sea of Galilee. Narrator1and2: This story tells us about our wonderful God who made us and who wants us to know Him. God knows we have done bad things, which He calls Sin. The punishment for sin is death, but God loves us so much He sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross and be punished for our sins. Then Jesus came back to life and went home to Heaven. If you believe in Jesus and ask him to forgive his sins, He will do it. He will come and live in you now, and you will live with Him forever.
