1.INTRODUCTION
Laptop users use their laptops occasionally. Using laptop for several hours produces heat which causes the laptops blower to suck the heat coming from laptops core / processing unit and, main board / motherboard, out to blowers mouth. Excess heat produce by laptop is beyond normal because heat is concentrated to certain part of the laptop. Other factors such as air humidity or climate temperature, especially here in the Philippines where ordinary climate temperature is warm / hot, augments the laptops certain part that produces heat which makes it warmer / hotter. With the three factors (excess heat produced by laptop at its certain part, Philippine climate that augments the laptops high temperature and, cooling pads consumption of laptops power) that the proponents has had noticed, the proponents has dreamed of a laptop accessory that will cool down the laptops temperature without sacrificing the laptops battery performance duration. The proponents dreamed laptop accessory is able to be tangible by acquiring a thermoelectric generator, a power booster, a power regulator and, a direct current brushless fan which will be placed at the bottom of the laptop where the heat concentrates.

power the direct current brushless fan which will propel excess heat away from laptops bottom part where heat concentrates. Thermoelectric generator is the core of this project. Without the said device, there will be no object to capture laptops excess heat to produce a direct current to power the power regulator and DC brushless fan.

1.3 Objectives
1.3.1 General Objectives
The general objective of this project is to convert the excess heat coming from the bottom part of the laptop into electricity.

1.3.2 Specific Objectives

To know how much excess heat that laptop can produce. To produce right amount of direct current electricity from thermoelectric generator. To boost the current produced by thermoelectric generator. To model a programmable circuit board (PCB) which will house / store the regulation statements written in C++ language. To power on the direct current brushless fan.

1.1 Project Context

The proponents will build a laptop accessory, which is a cooling pad, that will help the laptops built-in cooling system to cool. The thermoelectric generator powered external cooling pad is a project that will reduce the excess heat produced by laptop at its certain part without the cost of laptops battery performance. In order for the proponents to accomplish the said project, the proponents need to acquire a thermoelectric generator, direct current brushless fan, direct current to direct current converter and, microcontroller. First, the thermoelectric generator will harness the excess heat coming from the bottom portion of the laptop. The thermoelectric generator will convert the harnessed excess heat into direct current electricity; second, the produced direct current electricity will be amplified by direct current to direct current converter; third, the amplified electricity will now flow to microcontroller which will decide to turn on the direct current brushless fan or not. The amplified electricity should satisfy the microcontrollers lowest allowed electricity.

1.4 Scope and Limitation

1.4.1 Scope
The project is powered by thermoelectric generator. The electricity produced by thermoelectric generator will be amplified by direct current to direct current converter (DC DC converter). The amplified electricity will power the two (2) founding devices of the said project (microcontroller and DC brushless fan). Produce a microcontroller that will decide for the fan whether to power on or not. The project is intended for laptop only. The external cooling pad will turn off if the laptops high temperature is not enough for the thermoelectric generator to produce direct current electricity.

1.4.2 Limitation

1.2 Purpose and Description

The purpose of this project is to capture excess heat coming from the bottom of the laptop where the excess heat concentrates to

1.5 Significance of the Study

The importance of this study / project is that people with laptops will no longer worry of having their laptop battery drain fast because of accessories that feeds to it.

For the proponents who dreamed this project, they will be exposed to studies way out of their field / course making them more knowledgeable not only to their field but have their hands on wide.

2.4.1 Generating Light from Stoves using a Thermoelectric Generator

Design of a Thermoelectric Generator In designing a thermoelectric generator, there are many complexities that must be considered. Each component must be evaluated on how it will perform with the rest of the system, rather than individually. The components of the system are the thermoelectric module, the heat exchangers, the cooling fan, the power electronics, and the load. Module Selection There are several considerations in selecting the appropriate module. The most important are the material and module construction. There are many materials capable of producing power from a temperature difference. These materials vary in cost, efficiency, and operation temperature. Module construction also affects these three categories, as well as the maximum power of a module, and the voltage/current characteristics of the system. In selecting a module it is important to evaluate each one as it will perform in the entire system. Initially, it was believed that a low cost, low efficiency material may be the best solution for this application since the heat source is abundant and could be considered free. However, this is not necessarily the case. In general, thermoelectric materials have very low efficiencies, typically less than 10%. A very cheap material may have an efficiency of around 1%. This means to generate 5 watts of power, 500 watts must be moved through the system. This would require a very large heat exchanger, including a powerful cooling fan. These components have additional monetary and power costs, negating any advantage of using a low cost material. <COMMENT> Heat Exchangers In order to maintain a large temperature difference across the module, heat exchangers are required on each side. Since the fluid on both sides of the module in this case will be air, large finned heat exchangers are necessary. Proper use and selection of these heat exchangers is critical to a successful design. On the hot side of the module, the heat exchanger is less critical. Most high temperature modules can operate with hot side temperatures up to 250 C. Temperatures inside a stove can be up to 600 C. This allows the designer to use this high temperature difference as leverage. Even if the hot side heat exchanger is inefficient, the large temperature differential can compensate for this. The hot side heat exchanger has larger gaps within the fins for better performance using natural convection. It is also a solid extruded piece so there are no bonded joints that could melt. The cold side heat exchanger must be much more efficient. The air used to cool the cold side of the module can only be as cold as the ambient air. Because of the quadratic dependence of temperature on power, the cold side should be kept as cold as possible. There is a trade off though, since power must be put into the cooling fan to keep the module cold. For this reason, an in depth analysis of the cold side heat exchanger has been undertaken.
