9:30 AM An Evaluation of Our Human Nature

At its meeting of January 21, the consistory had the freedom to accept Russell and Laura Herman and their children Caleb, Nicolas, Anna, Lydia, & Seth as Associate Members of our congregation. They come to us from the Harvest Community Church in Orange City, Iowa while Russ studies for the ministry at PRTS. We are grateful for Russ' leadership of our YPS this year. Please take the opportunity to welcome Russ & Laura and their children after the morning service. We pray that God would bless them among us. There will be a meeting of the consistory with the male confessing (full) members of the congregation on February 6, 2013, beginning at 7:30 pm, Lord willing. This meeting will involve voting on proceeding with the synodical process of calling Dr. David Murray as outlined to you in December and also ask for approval of a seminarian internship program. An agenda and Information will be put in your mailboxes next Sunday, February 3, Lord willing.

FRC Mission Update The mission board is thankful to God for the faithful ministry of Pastor Xicara. We sometimes wonder what the churches in Cubulco would be like had this dear man not come at the Lords calling. He has good rapport with the church members and gives good direction to the obreros. He is active in visiting the hospital and makes regular trips to the Aldeas. Plans are in place to elect consistories in a few Aldeas with the goal of calling their own pastor. But in that culture they act slowly so it will likely be a number of months before concrete action takes place. Pastor Xicara is strong on the Reformed expression of church life. In October he had some well thought out presentations which were well attended. Check out our web site for more: http://www.frcmissions.org/ Special Notice - FRC missions is saddened to report that translator Victoriano passed away on Wednesday, January 16. In addition to working for the translation department for the last 18 months, Victoriano was John Otten's administrator for 12 years at the Cubulco hospital. Victoriano wasn't feeling well for some time and recently had a blood clot in his leg which led to severe swelling and deep vein thrombosis. He was diagnosed with cancer the week before he died. He leaves behind a wife and 3 grown children. Please pray for the family and for the mission projects in Guatemala. Nico Kattenberg has posted more information about Victoriano on the missions website at frcmissions.org.
