1 Denition
With the feature Direct Dialing-In (DDI) it is possible for calls to be made directly from the public network to a PBX extension without the assistance of an attendant. The calling subscriber dials the number of the PBX extension immediately after the PBX directory number.

2 Mode of operation
With the Direct Dialing-In (DDI) feature the calling subscriber directly dials the number of the desired PBX extension. The dialing procedure is the same as when setting up a connection to a subscriber in the public network. The directory number of the PBX extension consists of two parts: the standard (pilot) directory number of the PBX (e.g. 722) the extension number (e.g. 44290) To set up the connection, the network node evaluates only the PBX directory number. The extension number is transmitted unchanged to the PBX. In the public network a connection is set up between the calling subscriber and an available access line to the PBX. On the basis of the dialed extension number, the PBX can select the called extension, send a ringing tone and switch the incoming call through to the called extension. Capacity The percentages indicate the number of authorized subscribers for the feature within the network node and their simultaneous application.
