Global Series Completion Service

Definition The Global Series Completion Service allows a called subscriber to be reached under different directory numbers (e.g. in the fixed network and in the mobile radio network). This is done by switching the connection to each of the various destinations in turn if the subscriber does not answer or a subscriber terminal is busy. This service operates on the called side of the connection. It is valid for analog and ISDN subscribers.

Mode of operation
The Global Series Completion Service offers service subscribers the option of administrating their own data via menu-driven interactive dialog. The mode of operation of the service is described below for administration by the service subscriber and for the case where any other subscriber calls the service subscriber:

Integrated service logic (ISL)

VMS

Mode of operation for administration by the service subscriber The service subscriber dials an individual code issued by the network operator (1). After receiving this code, the coordination processor (CP) initiates IN and sends a special service key for subscriber-controlled administration using menu-driven interactive dialog via the Call Control Function (CCF) and the Service Switching Function (SSF) to the internal Service Control Function (SCF) (2). The SCF recognizes the service key and starts a menudriven interactive dialog to check the personal identification number (PIN) (3). The service subscriber is identified from the directory number and is given access authorization via the PIN (4).

PIN, directory number and service key are sent to the Service Data Access Function (SDAF) and checked (5). If the SDAF does not find an entry for Global Series Completion Service in the service data function (SDF) database the SCF is informed and the connection is released. If a PIN is entered incorrectly, subscribers can repeat the operation three times (6a). If the PIN was correct, all the necessary service data are read out and sent to the SCF (6b). The SCF analyzes the information and selects the appropriate announcements for administration. The service subscriber selects the desired action using dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) (7). The SCF controls administration via menu-driven interactive dialog and sends the updated data to the SDAF (8).

Mode of operation of the service when a call arrives The calling subscriber dials the directory number of the service subscriber (1). The CP (after analyzing the destination directory number) analyzes the call data of the service subscriber and initiates IN (2). A service key is sent via the Call Control Function (CCF) and the Service Switching Function (SSF) to the internal Service Control Function (SCF) (3).

The SCF recognizes the service key for the destination directory number and requests service-specific data from the Service Data Function (SDF) via the Service Data Access Function (SDAF) (4). The SDAF sends a block of data to the SCF. This block of data consists of a list of up to five destination directory numbers. If a number is busy, if there is no reply, or if there are errors in the route selection, the next number from the list is selected (5). The SCF initiates the connection to the called subscriber (6).

Capacity For each service subscriber a list of up to 4 alternative destinations can be stored in the database. The database is dimensioned for a maximum of 65,535 service subscribers per EWSD network node.

Subscriber procedure
Service subscribers have the option of activating and deactivating the service using menus, they can enter and delete entries in the list for Global Series Completion Service, listen to data that they have created, and they can quit the administration. To allow them to activate subscriber-controlled administration the network operator furnishes service subscribers with a specific digit code and a PIN after providing them with the service. Each entry is followed by an announcement which confirms a successful entry or states that no entry has been made.

Call charge registration

...for the calling subscriber Call charges are registered for the calling subscriber if a connection is successfully established to the called subscriber using AMA or dial pulsing in the own EWSD network node. ...for the service subscriber An IN-AMA data record is generated for the service subscriber. For zoning using postprocessing a data record is only required after successful connection setup. A data record is created for each forwarded connection.

Technical data
The "Global Series Completion Service" can be easily created if an internal Service Control Function (SCF) and a Service Data Function (SDF) are available in EWSD.
