Year 11 English Introductory Letter

The purpose of this letter is to introduce yourself to your teacher and to reflect upon the areas of English that you feel confident in and the areas that may need some attention. Make sure that you use fluent sentences, appropriate paragraphing and the correct letter format. You should include the following information:

What is the best film you have seen and why? What is the best book you have read and why? What is your favourite subject at school? What are some of your past accomplishments at school? In which subject do you feel most confident and why? Have you found English difficult in the past or is it one of your strengths? Identify which areas of English you find challenging and which areas you feel proficient in and explain why. Which style of writing suits you best? (e.g. analytical essay, creative, poetry, etc.) Discuss. How do you handle contributing to class discussions and delivering oral presentations? What is one aspect of English that you would particularly like to improve upon? What conditions create an effective classroom for you? What do you hope to achieve by the end of this year, both academically and personally? What would you like to be doing in three years and why? (Maybe university/ an apprenticeship/ TAFE/ employed) Set at least 4 goals for this subject- these could relate to your work habits or your achievements in the different outcomes.
