The target audience that are targeted here are the children in the lower years of the school; as the front cover has representations of these children, this is shown through there uniform and how young they look. The students on the front cover are there to represent the target audience and therefore relate the magazine to them. The reader could interact with the magazine because the children are looking straight into the camera, signifying that come on in and theres a welcoming gesture and tone from the pupils body language. The young children arent wearing formal uniforms. This signifies a relaxed approach and they are all smiling, with the idea that they are all having fun and with the art on top of their heads, which in itself is creative, which creates a positive outlook for the school. It also increases the fun factor of the school. The language is very relaxed, and by showing female and male students on the front cover, By having the logo and motto in the top right hand corner its clearly visible to the readers. Its not formal aswell; it has a relaxed feel to the magazine. Also the motto is significant as it unites the school and gives parents and children a reassurance that its a team effort. By highlighting the word class in yellow, makes it stand out on the cover and it links to the schools motto which is positioned in the top right hand corner of the magazine. The motto is Achieving Success Together linking the words class and success and giving the school a positive outlook.

The male student is at the front, which is a stereotype and shows that men will always be first. Yet the magazine tries to banish this stereotype by having 2

The magazine doesnt mention any articles on the front cover and this can be a positive thing as it makes the reader more interested to read inside and carry on to see what else is there to read.

The target audience here is an older age group and especially football and sport fans. The target audience is an age group aimed at Year 10 and above as the student looks older, and the fact they use the word stars to signify that these pupils have talent and can achieve great things. The reader can interact with the magazine by the use of the Manchester United Logo, which when the magazine was printed in 2005, was a crucial time as Manchester United were enjoying success as a major football team and this then has gained a common ground with the reader, because the logo is so famous and well-known. The title Shooting Stars shows that its football based and shooting is an action that commonly takes place in football matches and is a term often used. The caption underneath is interesting as it connotes the success of the school and especially its sporting success as by saying Our pupils lead the way reinforces the view they are the best and they are an example to follow. The font used again is white and bold to signify the colour of the football and relate to that, showing the focus of the magazine through colour. The font is the same through all of FFHs magazine covers, showing a common theme throughout the whole magazine and its ideology. The male is represented on this front cover as playing football as it shows that football is a widely regarded male sport and although females play it aswell, the male game of football is far more popular and interesting. The school realise this and use a male student to reinforce stereotypes and make it relatable to the reader. It again contains no articles on the front cover, trying to encourage the reader to look on further through the magazine to find out what the school successes in sport and why they Lead the way.

The target audience here is the potential or new Sixth formers at this school or college, and by having the male student whos fresh-faced and dressed smartly. By having Brand new Sixth Formers in white capital letters signifies that it is for them and future students in the lower years looking to attend Sixth Form. Also the cost of the magazine and it only being 1.00, making it affordable for Sixth Formers who attend and not making any inconvenience. The reader can interact with the magazine by seeing

a young student who is smiling and is looking forward to starting Sixth Form, reinforcing maturity and determination are required when entering Sixth Forms. The male student on the front is key to the idea of new Sixth Formers and the smile he has connotes hes happy to be there and is excited for a new challenge. The magazine is called Learn and is in bold red letters and is easy for the reader to see, signifying this is a main focus of students reaching Sixth Form. The language is quite bubbly and happy, having a quite welcoming and fun-loving demean which an educational focus. The magazine almost speaks to you and asks you questions and is very inviting. The font is in capitals, loud and the magazine is almost shouting at you. The use of capitals and the colours white and red which are quite frequent and them things stand out creating a positive and vibrant Magazine. The Male student is shown as being happy and bubbly, there are no women or girls on the front cover as the magazine reinforces the stereotype that male students like school more, and are more focused on their education. The target audience is the Older Students of this College/Sixth Form, and you can tell this by the articles and the type of language they use which is informal and relaxed and more focused to a younger audience. The language use and the informality of the language and colours used helps to increase the common ground the reader and the magazine have. The magazine is done to appeal to students rather than teachers and parents and the colour and font signifies this. The image of the male student on the front cover and the pose he has connotes a relaxed and almost comical approach to the magazine. The magazine is also taking a swipe at the seriousness in which professional magazines have their front covers with the person on the front cover and they have such serious poses when they shoot the picture. This magazine is having a laugh at their expense and showing a lighter side to their magazine. His facial expression is looking seriously at the sky, but with the way the photo is taken, it doesnt seem so serious.

The language on the front cover is the key link between magazine and reader, as by using shortened words and using exclamation marks, it emphasises that the magazine is not too be taken too seriously. Using words and phrases like foodchain and A new dawn, a new term signify and relate to the stereotype that students see school as a challenge and its a magazine from the pupils perspective and has a realistic approach and by showing that everyone isnt always interested in school, it shows realism rather than fantasy. The font is very easy to read, bold and by having the colours white and blue, where white represents purity and the blue then makes it easier to read. There isnt a lot of text to read at one time, making it short and snappy and therefore more appealing to Students as they dont have to break it down. The magazine hasnt got a focus on gender, but it does only mention a Head Boy rather than mention Head Boy and Head Girl which is more common than having just a Head Boy. Also the main focus of the magazine is that the main article focuses on the rise of the head boy and a picture of him on the front cover projecting this is important. The articles are very light-hearted and focus on the less educational priorities that happens in School and Sixth Forms. The articles that are contained on the front cover are, Its A New Dawn, Its a New Term. Dancing King, Joe Donnelly dances to victory! 10 Games to get you through detention. The New EdBoy, The Story of Ed Hydes rise to the top of the school foodchain.

The target audience is for students, parents and teachers of this school. They have articles such as Teacher of the Month and Student of the Month. High School Musical is a link to the parents because its a way of transferring information between the school and the parents, and thats an extra-curricular activity to involve the school

The reader interacts with the magazine through the formality of the magazine and by having a black font and a big black bold title and the reader can connect to that due to the school being formal and reinforces stereotypes and this helps ease the reader into the magazine as its familiar and recognisable. The image on the front cover is a girl whos in Year 10-11 and is at the height of her school years and is achieving well and she looks like a model student, which again is familiar. The articles relate to the image and shes smiling, signifying that she isnt just a model student and she has other interests beside work which is key. The language and punctuation is formal and theres a lack of exclamation marks. You also get a very formal, straight-up magazine that sticks to its agenda and is very informative and reliable. Theres a lack of fun and informal language and is very plain and desolate. The use of the title, which is Uniform, which signifies a very strong and proud school and the use of the bold and black font which is there to provide a strong and respectable magazine and its taken serious by the font, and colours used. The girl in the magazine is smiling, which is a contrast to the whole perspective and outlook of the magazine. Shes also the Student of the month reinforcing the stereotype that girls are harder working than boys and is proved in the awarding of the Student of the month award. The magazine reinforces stereotypes by using the girl to portray the hard working nature of the girl to prove shes student of the month. It contains several more articles including Revision Tips, Lunchtime Boredom, Beat The bully and Earn as you learn.
