in terms of peace and happiness, in terms of bliss. While we in our individual capacity are probably trying hard [or not so hard in my case] to understand and realize this truth, there is little left around us that can e xplain it. I fell for Shiva, for His mysticism, for His charm, for his wilderness, for His gentleness. I religiously stuck to the method of worship attributed to Him, and yes it has made many changes, changes that have taught me to accept life, change s that I cannot define as good or bad, changes that need nerves of steel to even face up to. Shiva is not just a tion of the miracle ld potentially have fy with, Shiva is a to emote. phallic cult, the representations indicate that as a celebra of life and what a profound way to depict something that cou been so grose. Shiva, is that mystery that we need to identi state that we need to achieve, Shiva is a bhava that is hard
Shiva is certainly not a person from some strange land call Meluha and definitel y not a Tibetan tribal who has been forced out of Manasarovar... no seriously, t o any devoted seeker, Shiva is none of that. Shiva cannot be cheapened into bein g a man, because to err is human and Lord Shiva never errs, He is not human, he is a concept of life, He is an energy we need to tap. Unfortunately, the author of that book [Immortals of Meluha] has not done justic e to the divine cult of Shiva, the lack of research is clearly evident. Shiva is not a bunch of mythological stories re-written to suit our so called modern tim es. If you want to know Shiva, you have certainly got to try a lot lot harder th an that. So here I am, trying to understand him. ======================================================= The disaster called Immortals of Meluha Unfortunately, there are not too many in the younger generation who have taken t rouble to understand this mysterious God and hence the Trilogy - Immortals of Me luha looks that much more interesting. Nothing wrong with the plot, but why brin g Shiva into it? As a stand alone story, its worth a read, but as a story that d epicts Shiva, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM IT. To a pure seeker of Shiva, who has devoted their lives to Him and who are waitin g for that moment when they can set eyes on this form of divinity, the book is a heart breaking rendering of a concept completely misunderstood. I tried reading that book, purely for the plot, trying very hard right through the way not to a ssociate this wind hero with Shiva... but unfortunately, I was unable to do so. The very first chapter was hard to digest. Shiva's exit from Mansarovar, other l esser mortals establishing him as "The One", Shiva staying in some place with 4 walls, Sati turning out to be more of a girlfriend... no no no none of this is S hiva. And thats it... I just couldn't give the writer any more justice. He simpl y sucked at his thoughts and at his writing. Seriously, is this what the world c alls a great book!!! I am TOTALLY disillusioned. Here are a few things we should know before we attempt to write on Shiva, or eve n attempt to carve out a picture of a deity, who has serious religious conotatio ns in our land and as an author we need to show some serious responsibility towa
