Standard FCS
Nodes ( for standard FCS) Remote I/O units (Nodes) on the RIO bus convert between bus signals to/from FCS and analog ,digital and field bus I/O signal.
COMPACT FCS
In compact FCS,the field control unit and I/O modules connected to same back plane. CPU is dual redundant is supported (optional). dual redundant power supply is also possible . It can be mounted in 19 rack. One FCS can be connected to five I /O units. Configuration for compact FCS is shown below

Protocol: IEEE 802.4 Access control: Token passing V Net is a 10mbps real-time control bus which links stations such as FCS, HIS,BCV and CGW. It can be dual redundant. It can be up to 500m using coaxial cable alone. or up to 20km when extended by bus repeaters and/or optical fiber links. 10BASE2 cable used by HIS, maximum segment length = 185m10BASE5 cable used by stations other than HIS (FCS, CGW etc.) maximum segment length = 500m For connecting 10BASE2 and 10BASE5 converter unit or bus repeater is required .

ETHERNET BUS Protocol: CSMA/CD Carrier sense multiple access with collision detection Type : Bus type or Multi drop type Communication rate : 10 mbps Transmission distance : 500 M 2.5 Km Maximum HIS and ENG,HIS and supervisory system can be connected by Ethernet LAN ; supervisory computer and personal computer on the Ethernet LAN can access messages and trend data in the CS3000 system. The Ethernet can also be used for sending trend data files from the HIS to supervisory computer, or for equalizing data in two HIS station( rather than using the V net control bus to do this ). A system with only a single HIS, with engineering functions installed does not need Ethernet. Ethernet bus is not redundant.
RIO BUS
THE REMOTE I/O BUS (RIO BUS) CONNECT THE FCU TO I/O NODES, AND CAN BE DUAL REDUNDANT. TWISTED PAIR CABLE IS USED FOR DISTANCE UP TO 750M , AND BUS REPEATER OR OPTICAL FIBER LINKS CAN BE USED FOR LONGER DISTANCE UPTO 20KM . BUS REPEATER AND OPTICAL FIBER LINKS CAN BE MIXED UP TO FOUR IN TOTAL YOU CAN ADD OR CHANGE RIO BUS NODES, WITHOUT AFFECTING FCS CONTROL FUNCTION OR COMMUNICATION WITH OTHER NODES .

RIO BUS
The node transfers process I/O signals, such as analog and digital signals, from the field to the FCU via RIO bus cables, or vice versa, converting to data that is readable inside the FCS. Nodes consist of I/O units, which interface with analog and digital field signal, and Node Interface units which communicate via the RIO bus with Field control unit. Node Interface Units consist of RIO bus communication cards and power supply cards, both of which can be dual redundant. I/O Units consist of I/O Module Nests containing I/O Modules, which connect to the process. Nodes are categorized into two types: the cabinet installation type and the 19" rack mount-able type. Both types of nodes can be connected to the FCU and configured in various ways. This allows the user to configure the FCS to meet the installation conditions of the site. ANP plant Node Interface Unit is cabinet mounted and configuration of the same is shown.
RIO BUS INTERFACE CARD
Input & Output Modules. The I/O modules convert the analog or digital signals from the field equipment then pass to field control stations or vise versa to convert the signals from the field control station to the signals for the field equipment. The I/O module can be categorized into the following seven main types, which in turn can be divided into complex subtypes. 1. Analog I/O module 2. Multipoint control analog I/O module 3. Relay I/O module 4. Multiplexer module 5. Digital I/O module 6.Communication module
I/O Modules 1
Multipoint Analog Control I/O Module (AMC80)
The Multipoint Analog Control I/O Module may multiplex the 8 points 1- 5 VDC analog signals to digital signals for input, and may multiplex the 8 points digital signals into 4-20mA DC analog signals for output respectively. It is not isolated between the system and field nor the terminals. The action mode of this module may be switched from Single to Dual-redundant or vice versa by changing software settings. When in dual-redundant mode, two AMC80 modules may be installed in the same nest (AMN34) to realize the dual-redundant control function. When AMC80 is connected to the dual-redundant devices such as MHM, the AMC80 must be configured dual-redundant too. When dual-redundant is not configured to the AMC80 modules, each module should have its own MHM connected.
Multiplexer Module
The multiplexer module, consisting of a pair of terminal or connector and card units, converts incoming signals of up to 16 points or outputs signals between 4 and 20mA. Acceptable input include DC voltage, potential difference of DC voltage, and signals from the mV, thermocouple, RTD, and two-wire transmitter. Since the type and range of I/O signals are system generation function, no control switch or knob is found on this module. multiplexer modules show below. AMM12T Voltage input multiplexer module AMM32T RTD input multiplexer module Digital I/O Module
I/O MODULE 2
The digital I/O module is configured by the card unit and either the terminal unit or connector unit. It inputs and outputs 16 or 32 signal points and converts signals. ADM12C CONTACT INPUT MODULE (32 point connector type ) ADM52C CONTACT OUTPUT MODULE (32 point connector type )
Communication Module
The communication module connects the subsystem (PLC etc.) to the FCS via the serial communication circuit and carries out control and monitoring of them. The Fieldbus Communication Module is used to connect fieldbus devices with fieldbus interface. A single unit or the communication module is configured of the front panel and card unit, and cannot be disassembled. RIO BUS Dual redundant (RB301) bus interface card can be installed in the FCU ; the active (on-line) CPU card controls which is active (normally the one on the same side as the active CPU) the stand by side sleeps , and performed only diagnostic communications. dual redundant RIO buses are used alternately; if an abnormality is detected in one bus then the other is used . the abnormal bus is tested periodically to see if it has returned to normal . NODES In nodes, the nodes interface card and the node power supply can be dual redundant. The I/O modules bus from nodes interface unit to each I/O unit can be dual redundant.
