The first ever Steel Cage Match in All Action Wrestling history saw Brandon The Boss Bossman, B-Money, David Nero and Joey Angel eliminated before Mattei won the championship after exiting over the top of the cage, leaving The Shark watching in vain. BIG NAME SUPERSTAR TO MAKE AAW DEBUT A former WWE/WCW/ECW/TNA Superstar will be making their All Action Wrestling debut in January. Westside Pro Wrestling has learnt that the announcement will be made on November 14 at AAWs In Your Face as to who this superstar will be. MICHELLE WINS HER FIRST TITLE A new AAW Australian Womens Champion was crowned when Michelle, after six years in the wrestling business, defeated Imogen Jane to win her first ever championship and become the second ever holder of the title. Michelle made her debut on September 6, 2003 and is a pioneer of Womens Wrestling on the West Australian scene. Michelle has wrestled all over Australia to find competition, finally wrestling in WAs first ever Womens match on April 11, 2009 against Melbournes Vixsin. CRAVEN TO MAKE JAPANESE TV DEBUT The Australian Sensation Craven will be making his debut on Japanese TV when he performs at two Pro Wrestling World-1 shows in Neptune, NJ. The taping will take place on November 22, with two shows being filmed for Zero-1s Samurai TV show. JONATHAN LINK IN THE US Jonathan Link makes his US Debut for NWA affilliate Brew City Wrestlings Nightmare on 92nd St in West Allis, WI on November 30. Westside Pro Wrestling wishes Link all the best on his first International tour.

www.epwperth.com RETURN OF THE COMIC BOOK SUPERHERO Mikey Nicholls made a successful return to EPW at Charity Bash, after a 10 Month tour of the USA. Nicholls defeated Devlin Reeves in his return match and then won the Telethon Rumble, last eliminating Gorgeous Garry Schmidt. After winning the Rumble, Mikey grabbed the mic and announced that he will be teaming up with Shane Haste in the EPW Tag Team Championship Match against Slex and Carlo Cannon at ReAwakening 8.

AZ FACES UP TO PAYNE AZ Vegara challenged Jimmy Payne to a match at ReAwakening 8 after attacking Payne following his victory in the Three Way Match, also involving Jamie Jurah, at Charity Bash. Vegara cut a promo claiming Payne, who defeated Vegara in his surprise return at Breaking Point in August, has made his life a nightmare and cost him everything. Vegara lost Ambers managerial services following his loss to Ferguson Block at WA vs. VIC, which was AZs last chance to keep Amber as his manager. Vegara has now gone without a win since April 18 at Battle for Supremacy where he defeated the 2009 Rising Star Cup winner Alex The Kid Kingston. KRACKERJAKS OPEN CHALLENGE The Mad Bastard of Australian Wrestling, KrackerJak has made an open challenge via a YouTube video, see YouTube Links section, for Re-Awakening 8. The challenge as of this writing has yet to be accepted for Krackers Open Invitational Hardcore Battle Royal of Destruction. KrackerJak made his Explosive Pro Wrestling debut in May at Night 1 of Evolution 2009 when he defeated Devlin Reeves and followed that up with a loss to Bobby Marshall in a Hardcore Match on Night 2. SHOPPING CENTRE WRESTLEMANIA Explosive Pro Wrestling completed a very successful week long tour at Mirrabooka Square Shopping Centre on October 10. The tour saw 60 matches take place in nineteen sessions over the six days. Good crowds at nearly every session saw Bobby Marshall, Davis Storm and Jay Taylor wrestle every day while The Crazy Chicken El Polo Loco and Ryan Aurora made their EPW debuts. Nate Dooley also made a successful yet short lived return teaming with Jimmy Payne, after he suffered a hand injury during the victory over The Blackest Hour duo of Devlin Reeves and the EPW Champion, Richter. Westside Pro Wrestling would like to wish Dooley a speedy recovery. MIKEY VS. JAG V AT WRESTLECLASH 2 Victoria will experience Jag vs. Mikey Nicholls rivalry for the first time at Wrestleclash 2 on November 28. A rivalry that started at Night 1 of Evolution 2004 and has continued on through to 2009. The two along with Davis Storm were the first EPW talent to tour the US in 2005 and were the first Australians to have wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2006 at the famous Korakuen Hall, when they took on Minoru & Hirooki Goto.

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Perth-Australia/NHPW-Wrestling-Australia/132706904594 SONJAY IMPACT! Sonjay Dutt made his Australian debut on October 23 when he took on Jarrad Slate in a Family Honor match. The challenge by Dheli Dutt Singh began on the second night of the Hardcore Resurrection tour when after being insulted by Ebenizah J. Klaus, when he informed Klaus that he called his cousin Sonjay to challenge one of Klaus clients. Dutt eventually came out the victor after a Standing Shooting Star Press in a solid match. Night two saw Dutt victorious in the Fatal 4 Way Elimination Match against B-Boy, The Wraith and Dustin Dice, after eliminating B-Boy with the SSSP. THE NEW HORIZON PUNISHER US Indy star B-Boy took on fellow Californian Jarek Matthews in a hard hitting Match of the Night encounter on the first night of NHPWs Southern Impact! tour which he won via submission when Matthews tapped out to a rear naked choke. Kid Kapri had come out earlier on the show with B-Boy cutting a promo trashing Australia. Matthews came out and told B-Boy that he had been in the country since July and that we have a saying similar to America Love It or Leave It. NHPW owner Dheli Dutt Singh proceeded to book the match in which was Matthews and B-Boys first ever encounter. NEW TALENT ON THE HORIZON Two new wrestlers, Kabel and the 320 pound, Silverback Mark Santoro made their in-ring debuts during the Southern Impact! tour. A third debutant Vinny Garcia made his first appearance, but did not take part in a match but attacked the cameraman during the opening segment of the show. The near 7-foot Kabel, who made his first appearance at SHWAs Collateral Damage back in July, joined The Widowmaker Mange in taking on the Killswitch Krew, Tapu and NC Viper on the first night

and Santoro made quick work of the current NHPW Light-Heavyweight Champion Heritor. SONJAY AND B-BOY PASS ON THEIR KNOWLEDGE Sonjay Dutt, along with B-Boy held a seminar/training session on October 22 after arriving in the country earlier in the day. The seminar was a lot more hands on than the Steve Corino seminar in July as Dutt and B-Boy were more about the in-ring training. The seminar lasted just over two hours as both stars answered questions about their careers as well hooking up with those at the session. Westside Pro Wrestling was lucky enough to conduct interviews with both stars, so look out for that next month.

www.shwa.net.au SHWA CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT CONTINUES Running Wild saw the continuation of the Tournament to crown the first ever Southern Hemisphere Wrestling Alliance Champion. The final two Quarter Final matches saw The Wraith advance oven Sven Zoltenhassan and Jake Paragon advance over Jarek Matthews. Mad Mike Massive and Jarrad Slate had already advanced with wins at Reckless Abandon. The Semi Finals will be held at SHWAs Super Awesome Wrestling Show 5000 at the Karrinyup Sports Centre on November 21. JET TAKES OFF In what seems to be a one off appearance former All Action Wrestling star Jet West made his Southern Hemisphere Wrestling Alliance debut against the leader of the Muscle Militia, Jarrad Slate. West impressed with his high flying abilities, but ultimately fell short in his quest for victory against Slate. Hopefully this will not be the former 2 time AAW Independent Champions only appearance for SHWA. SHWA INTERSTATE Several members of the SHWA roster will be heading over to Adelaide in November to take part in Snakepit Pro Wrestlings First Annual Pro Wrestling Swap Meet on November 15 in Port Adelaide. The day will feature matches throughout while stalls will be selling wrestling merchandise from around the world. Jarrad Slate, Jake Paragon, Mad Mike Massive, Ebenizah J. Klaus and Referee Liam will be making the trip over to represent SHWA. The SHWA talent will be making their Snakepit debuts the night before at the same venue. Jarrad Slate and Mad Mike Massive have also been officially announced to take part in the huge Allstar Wrestling Supershow in Golden Grove, SA on January 23, 2010. Both men will be taking

part in the 20 man Battle Royal.

Interview

Eye of the Storm

An Interview with Explosive Pro Wrestlings Davis Storm. The Ironman of Australian Wrestling, two time EPW champion and eight year veteran of the West Australian Pro Wrestling scene talks to Tez Himself about his long and illustrious career. WPW: Can you tell us about the early years of Davis Storm and Explosive Coastal Wrestling and what it was like to be part of the rebirth of Local Wrestling in Perth? STORM: I could probably write a whole article just on this topic but I think the early days of Explosive Coastal Wrestling and Davis Storm were quite similar. A work in progress. It was an incredibly exciting time as we were breaking new ground. Locally produced pro wrestling had been absent from Perth for over 15 years. We had a really rough start in our first two shows but I have no regrets as its all led us to where we are today. WPW: In early 2002, some Explosive Coastal Wrestling talent including yourself went to South Australia to train with Col Dervany, Jag and Havok. While over there you wrestled a few shows for now defunct federations Maximum Power Wrestling and Pro Wrestling South Australia. What was the experience like for a young wrestler new to the business and are there any stories you can share about the time? STORM: I remember that trip being the most testing time Ive ever had in wrestling. We were training 10 hours a day every day of the week. We were doing brutal cardio with a boxing coach, weights training and then wrestling for about five to six hours a day. Our bodies were broken down after one day but we had six weeks of full time training. No rest days. I remember everyone in Adelaide going out of their way to be as helpful as they could be. There are too many stories to recount them all, I just remember it all being an incredible learning curve and it was a huge turning point for EPW in terms of where we stood in Australian wrestling. WPW: January 2005 saw the birth of the Ironman at Survival of the Fittest when you defeated Jag in a 1 hour Ironman Match, which was the first ever in the history of Australian Wrestling. At the time there were a few people that thought it couldnt be pulled off. Just under 2 years later at Re-Awakening V it was voted the greatest match in Explosive Pro Wrestlings history up until that time. What were your feelings leading up to the big match? STORM: Depends on which day you caught me on. I had prepared as best I could so most days I was confident that I could physically make it through the hour. But it was brutally hot that summer and it was still a complete unknown as to whether we could make fans pay attention for an hour. I wanted it to be a match that just happened to go for an hour rather than a match where two guys are clearly trying to see out an hour. I put so much physically and mentally into that match. People see the hour as a big deal. As far as achievements go, Id rather stand next to a good match than a match that went for an hour. Hopefully we achieved both.

Westside Pro Wrestling

Page 11

WPW: In late 2005, early 2006 you trained and wrestled at the New Japan USA dojo. Do you have any desire to give it another crack over there with the success that Mikey Nicholls, Bobby Marshall and Shane Haste have had? STORM: Getting the opportunity to train at the Inoki dojo was a privilege. Jushin Liger was my inspiration for wanting to wrestle and to get the chance to tread the boards where he had previously was an amazing feeling. Being trained by Kendo Ka Shin and Mr. Inoki himself was truly an honour and a humbling experience. Stepping into the ring each day along world class names like Fergal Devitt, Karl Anderson and Rocky Romero showed me what was required if I wanted become the wrestler I wanted to be. But I really wasnt there to make a name for myself. I was there to learn and despite the wonderful success that the other lads have enjoyed, I still have no desire to pursue wrestling overseas. WPW: Youve had some classic encounters with Interstate Talent over the years including Jag Hartley Jackson and Carlo Cannon. Which Australian talent would you like to face off with in the future? STORM: I dont keep an eye on Australian talent like I used to but the only name that leaps out at me is Damian Slater. Hes been wrestling here in EPW for almost five years and we still havent had the chance to have a one on one match. To me, he is the barometer for Australian wrestling today. WPW: You have been wrestling for eight years coming up in November. What have been some of your favourite moments and matches in your career so far? STORM: Most of my favourite moments have probably taken place away from wrestling shows because they tend to get a little stressful but the aftermath of the brawl at Inner Turmoil was amazing. Absolute mayhem all over the building and the fans going crazy. My favourite matches are ones that most fans probably dont even remember. My two timed rounds matches with Brad West. Brad is probably one of my favourite guys to wrestle and I think hes probably the most underrated mind in Australian wrestling. Dooley and I taking on GST in a tables match at Settling the Score was a match where I was able to just get lost in the moment. My recent match with Sebastian Sander was a lot of fun for me. I think his potential is just about unlimited and he has a huge future. But I think my best match is my Falls Count Anywhere match with Jimmy Payne. Weve had a lot of matches that I rate but that one was special as it was Jims last singles match at the time. Im really proud of that one. WPW: The NWA Australian National Championship hasnt been seen in Explosive Pro Wrestling since Mikey Nicholls lost it to Hartley Jackson in April 2008. Could we see Davis Storm in the future go over to Adelaide and bring the belt back to where it was born? STORM: I think with the recent name change of EPW Adelaide to NWA Pro, we may have seen the last of the NWA Australian title in Perth. BUT, never say never. WPW: What type of injuries have you suffered over your career? STORM: I carry a lot of injuries that just dont go away but thats just part of what we do. The two worst Ive had came one after the other in 2008. I first cracked my tailbone at Evolution against Jimmy. Although Id say Im over that now, it still bothers me to this day. Straight after getting over that, I broke my wrist. I first cracked it in the six man street fight but after not seeing a doctor, I officially broke it about six or seven weeks later. I had to convince the doctor to cut the cast off a week early so I could compete in the cage match last

Re-Awakening. WPW: Re-Awakening 8 is approaching very quickly. What does Re-Awakening mean to Davis Storm? STORM: It is truly a celebration of what professional wrestling means to those involved in EPW. I have had some of my greatest moments at this show. I just have an emotional connection with it that I cant explain. To perform at Re-Awakening is unlike anything else I have experienced in Australian wrestling and it gets the very best out of the best. WPW: What are your future goals for both yourself and Explosive Pro Wrestling? STORM: Just to be the best I can be. Same for EPW. I just want to continue to improve and enjoy the ride along the way. The day wrestling doesnt bring a smile to my face will be the last day I lace up my boots. WPW: Thank you for taking the time to talk to Westside Pro Wrestling, Davis. STORM: My pleasure.
