According to Saxe (1991) the term Social Studies was directly tied to the utilization of Social Sciences data as a force in the improvement of human welfare. Moreover, Social Sciences are the disciplines like history, humanities- in fact any discipline- that helps to inform people of the nature of their relationship to the institutions and operations of the society.

2. The enduring goal of Social Studies is categorized in the affective, cognitive and behavioral domains. The learners are viewed as Reflective, Competent, and Concerned. a. Reflective This goal view learners as discerning and thinking who possess the facts and figures and know how to determine and analyze this information. b. Competent- learners are viewed as individuals with hand- knows special skills and knows how to quantify, organize and research. c. Concerned- are viewed as individuals who recognizes their responsibilities toward the society. 3. CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION- primarily aims to inform and educate individuals to their responsibilities as part of a bigger system of the community. It is the ultimate aim of social studies because it develops individuals on how to participate and respond to the communal and social processes in the society. It is important because it elucidates not only the right of an individual but also the paired responsibility and accountability of his actions as part of the citizenry vis a vis to the economic and political operations in the society. a. Ex. ELECTION 4. Integrative Teaching is an approach of learning that does not only fed information and facts to the learners but also allows them to integrate or relate it in real life situations (Oates, 2003). a. Example. Drug use One mode of Integrative teaching is Thematic Approach. Here, a specific theme is utilized by the teacher and is used a s a base in the course of teaching. (Example Theme: Types of Waray Poetry) ENGLISH- compare vs Wertern poetry MAPEH- Siday and Music MATHEMATCS- 5 forms, 1 left HISTORY- Spanish conquest and losing of literature

5. INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES- describe skills, knowledge and abilities that learners must possess after teaching (OBanner, 2002). It is important because: a.
