for the powers i will just put a space because i did not know how to make little numbers

ok Nick, thanks for explaining this to me..... Power of 10 10 4 10 3 10 2 10 1 10 0 10 -1 10 -2 10 -3 10 -4 Good

This is fine, but the last few should have been written as decimals rather thn fractions....however it is still correct.

Good Nick, just take care to look back at the couple of errors you made. Always check your answers please. 1. greater than I notice that the powers are exactly the amount of 0s in the product form box to scientific notation You are right, but does your explanation make sense? 2.less than Why? Can you explain this to me? I need more detail here. 3. greater than because ten to the power of nine would be already greater than one, and if you multiply it by 4.3 it would be much larger than one. Yes, but what do you notice about the exponent here? Is it negative or positive?

4. 4.6 x 10 6 Good

5. 3.4 x 10 -2 Well done

6. 9.7 x 10 1 Good

7.13,000,000 Well done!

8. 225,000 Good

9. 0.00376 Good

10. first you need to write the number in product form then depending if your power is by a negative or a positive number then you count the amount of zeros if you number is positive and for negative you add 1 zero to the amount of zeros you counted. This explanation isnt very clear Nick. I needed mention of the decimal place of the number moving so that you are working with the product of a number between 1 and 10 and a simplified power of 10. Once the number is in product form, you can rewrite the simplified power of 10 as a power using an exponent.

11. 4 places and you move it to the right This not correct, check the number of places, although the direction is good.

12. 7.6 x 10 -3 Good, what does the exponent tell you? I need more explanation here please Nick. 13. 5 times left This is not correct. Yes, it moves to the left, but just 4 places.

14.5.65 x 10 4 Good, but you havent answered the question about the exponent. Link it into the number of places moved.

15 yes because it is in powers.

No, look at the first part. Is it a decimal between 1 and 10? Remeber our definition for scientific notation please Nick.

=D A good attempt Nick, although I could have done with more explanation throughout.
