Well equipped and fitting buoyancy aid is necessary for paddlers survival outside his boat.
According to EN ISO 12402-5 sport buoyancy aids are designed for swimmers, and they can be used in protected waters with help near at hand. Their function is to support the paddler who finds himself outside his boat; they are not PFDs designed for non-swimmers and unconscious swimmers. Besides buoyant force i.e. keeping the swimming person afloat buoyancy aids provide other possibilities of active rescue according to their equipment. Different types of buoyancy aids are fitted with chest harnesses, integrated harnesses, pockets, buckles and others according to their purpose and supposed use.
How to maintain the buoyancy aids?

Floating foam of the buoyancy aid contains closed air cells that can be destroyed by inadequate pressure, which leads to the foam loosing its buoyancy. Therefore you shouldnt bend the buoyancy aid, nor use it as a seat or a cushion. Dry it in the open air after each use and store it hung. Protect the buoyancy aid from heat (over 50 C), dont dry it in a tumble drier nor on heaters. When dirty, clean it with soap water and a soft brush. Never use chemical solvents nor wash it in a washing machine, if you dont wish to destroy it completely.

Safety chest harness and its use

Some buoyancy aids can be fitted with a safety chest harness. It is designed for self-belaying during rescue, and combined with a tow-line it can be used to pull a swimming person or a piece of equipment to the bank. It doesnt substitute a climbing harness and it isnt designed for rappeling!!! The harness features a safety quick-release buckle to be removed quickly from the buoyancy aid (possibly under some load) in case of emergency (when the stream pushes the rescuer under the water, the pulled boat gets stuck and so on). Therefore it is necessary to pull the harness correctly through the friction plate of the buckle and fasten the buckle properly. Otherwise its safety and quick release cannot be guaranteed!!! It is strongly recommended to practise the rescue with the safety harness before you really need it.
How to choose the right buoyancy aid?

Sufficient buoyant force is the basic feature of each buoyancy aid, however the right size and functionality are more important. Firstly, decide what you need the buoyancy aid for. There are different designs and equipment suitable for different areas of water activities. Then you should choose the right design. Slight kayak paddlers prefer low cut designs, so they arent hampered in their movement; someone prefers classical cut with the same buoyant force but thinner foam. Also decide, whether you prefer a pull over the head vest or a jacket with a zipper or buckles. Finally you should find the right size. It is recommended to try out at least two sizes of the chosen design, tighten the waist, side, and shoulder straps properly and try whether your body moves freely and the buoyancy aid doesnt slide up over your head when you are sitting. It is ideal to sit into a boat and put a spraydeck on. It is recommended to choose the better fitting size although the paddlers weight is slightly over the stated weight range. Buoyancy aid must fit comfortably, allow free movement, but it mustnt be swept off when you are swimming!

Very durable nylon fabric with excellent tensile properties, even when displayed to petroleum fuel and detergent. Highly abrasion resistant and strong in tension.
Front pockets of different size and design are used to carry the necessarry additional equipment, for example a knive, a carabiner, an energy bar, a camera, and so on. Chest harness with a safety buckle is used to rescue people and equipment. The buckle can be quickly opened and the harness releases easily in case of any danger for the rescuer. Warm pockets for numb hands have their inner side made of warm fabric. They come in handy during long journeys in cold and windy weather. Waist strap tightening makes the buoyancy aid well fitting to the body, so it cannot slip over the head when turning over. It is tightened by two buckles on sides. Waist cord tightening makes the buoyancy aid well fitting to the body, so it cannot slip over the head when turning over. It is tightened in front. Side straps are sewed to neoprene pieces, so the sides remain flexible even when tight, and the straps dont hurt.
Oxford 210D = PAD 210D

Light nylon fabric with good tensile properties, resistant to petroleum fuel and detergent. It is abrasion resistant and quite strong in tension.
Dupratex = PES 600D

Very durable polyester fabric with excellent tensile properties, even when displayed to petroleum fuel and detergent. Abrasion resistant and strong in tension.
Polyester 150D = PES 150D

Very Light polyester fabric with good tensile properties, resistant to petroleum fuel and detergent. It is abrasion resistant and quite strong in tension.
Watering bladder pocket is designed to carry a watering bladder of specific volume. It is provided with a hose outlet.
Adjustable sides make the buoyancy aid well fitting to the body aloving free movement.
Throw-bag pocket allows you to have this rescue equipment always at hand and to have both hands free. The pocket can be also used to carrry a water bottle or a watering blader. Flare pocket is designed to keep a flare safe, but at hand.

How to choose a cag?

Firstly, think of conditions and a type of boat you are going to use your cag in. Long cut cags are suitable for rafting, open canoe touring, and seakayaking. Waist cut cags fit spraydecks better making them perfect to use in whitewater boats. Then, choose fabric thickness and type of a neck seal and cuffs; all the elements have an influence on water resistance of the cag. Dry cags are provided with latex cuffs and neck seals allowing them to seal perfectly; however they are liable to damage.

How to maintain cags and trousers?

Paddling cags and trousers made of layered fabrics should be dried after each use by hanging in the air. If necessary, use soap water and a sponge or a soft brush to clean them. Never wash in a washing machine or use chemical solvents. Never expose to high temperature. Direct sun doesnt do any good to used materials. Pay special attention to the latex cuffs and seals. Use a sharp knife or scissors to modify their size according to your need. Make sure the cut is smooth without any tears, so the latex wont rip up. Put on and take off the latex seals and cuffs carefully. Watch out for sharp objects such as rings, watches, and so on, that could damage them. Protect seals and cuffs form direct sun. High temperatures degrade the latex. Always have rotten cuffs and seals exchanged.

What equipment can be found on our products

Neoprene stand-up collar reduces seeping of water into the cag. Hood integrated into the collar protects from wind and rain especially on seakayak journeys.
Neoprene stand-up collar with a fastening reduces seeping of water into the cag, it can be tightened as necessary and allows the cag to be taken off easily. Unfastening collar makes taking off of the cag easier, the nylon layer reduces seeping of water at the neck, the inner fleece layer warms. Zipped collar protects from wind and rain.
Conical neoprene neck seal fits well round the neck and reduces seeping of water into the cag.
Conical neoprene neck seal tightened simply with an elastic cord with a regulator reduces seeping of water into the cag and makes its taking off easier. Latex seal of the double neck seal reduces seeping of water at the neck, it is covered with a neoprene layer for higher comfort. Shoulder reinforcement increases abrasion resistance of the fabric, which is strained by carrying a boat or a dry bag. Elbow reinforcement increases abrasion resistance of the fabric.

Extremely stretch and soft neoprene cuffs reduce seeping of water into the cag and serve as wristlets, too. They protect wrist sinews from cold. Neoprene cuffs with velcro reduce seeping of water, they can be tightened round a wrist or an ankle as necessary, still they are taken off easily. Knees reinforcement increases abrasion resistance of the fabric and protects from ripping. It also increases heat comfort of the trousers.
Latex parts of the double cuffs seal the cag well and reduce seeping of water at wrists or ankles, they are covered with neoprene cuffs for comfort. Long, conical neoprene cuffs reduce seeping of water into the cag and serve as wristlets, too. They protect wrist sinews from cold. Bottom reinforcement increases abrasion resistance of the fabric and heat comfort of the trousers.

Spraydecks
Spraydeck prevents water from flooding the boat, so it must fit perfectly both the boat and the paddlers body, and it mustnt slip off in extreme situations. Spraydecks are made of neoprene rubber or nylon fabric with PU coating. Water resistance and adhesion of a neoprene spraydeck can be increased with inner PU coating of the cockpit edge. Outer side of the neoprene spraydeck can be reinforced with a layer of another material, which increases durability and abrasion resistance of the neoprene rubber. Spraydecks with double waist tube (DWT) seal better because their upper tube layer can cover and fix a cag. All spraydecks are fitted with a robust emergency strap, so they can be released from the cockpit easily in case of emergency.

How to choose a spraydeck

Choose your spraydeck according to its use. Neoprene spraydecks are tight enough to be used on white water, but they must perfectly fit a cockpit and a paddlers body, so they are usually a bit tough to put on. Nylon spraydecks are lighter and they can be easily put on thanks to their adjustable cockpit and tube elastic cords, so they fit different boats and different paddlers. Double waist tube is suitable for extreme conditions more insulation layers - however it requires suitable waist length cag that can be easily arranged between the layers of the double tube.

Spraydeck maintenance
Spraydeck should be maintained just like another pieces of outfit made of the same fabrics. Dry it in the air after each use, avoid high temperatures and store it hanging. If necessary, clean with soap water and a sponge, never use chemical detergents.

Double tube reduces seeping of water between the spraydeck and a cag and increases the spraydecks insulation. It is usually combined with a kayak cag, which fits between the tube layers. Outer cockpit edge reinforcement makes an abrasion resistant protection of the spraydeck edge. Inner PU coating of the cockpit edge increases adhesion of the spraydeck, so it protects it from slipping off in rapids.

Cagdecks
Cag-decks are compound pieces of paddlers outfit with many advantages. A cag and a spraydeck form only one piece of clothing, so they are put on together, which is their great advantage. It is quicker and theres not necessary to straighten both pieces of garment separately. The cag-decks also reduce seeping of water at the waist, while they provide higher heat comfort. Their drawback is limited variability of the outfit. It is impossible to put on a cag without its spraydeck, or you cannot take off only the spraydeck when necessary.

Neoprene clothing
Neoprene clothing is a basic protection against cold in water. Neoprene rubber is chemically very resistant synthetic polychloroprene with nitrogen filled cells. The nitrogen gives the neoprene its insulation and buoyant features. Neoprene layer also protects your body from bruises and grazes. Neoprene rubber is usually finished with a laminated layer of polyamide fabric on one or both sides for further use. The layers on both sides can be same or different according to required properties of final products. The inner laminated layer makes putting on of a wet suit easier and it can also support its insulation features. The outer layer protects the neoprene rubber and increases its durability and abrasion resistance. Both laminated layers also influence elasticity of the neoprene rubber. Insulation capacity of the neoprene rubber depends on its thickness. The thicker the neoprene the better protection against cold, however the thicker neoprene is less flexible, so it restrains movements.

How to choose a wet suit?

When you are choosing a wet suit, consider its supposed use. It is necessary to think of the optimal thickness of the neoprene rubber, then choose a design long or short, with or without reinforcement of strained parts, a way of fastening and try out the right size. The wet suit should fit close to the body, so it performs its insulation function properly. If it is loose, a water layer between the neoprene and the body wont heat up, so the wet suit loses its insulation function. On the other hand, the wet suit mustnt be too tight, because it would restrain your movement.
How to maintain neoprene wet suits?

Choose the right size, so the neoprene rubber isnt strained with tension. Neoprene clothing made of one sided neoprene are liable to abrasion and tear, so its recommended to protect them with some outer garment. Store the neoprene wet suits hanged, so you prevent them from irreversible deformations caused by folding them. For hygienic reasons it is suitable to rinse the wet suit after each use in clean water and let it dry properly in the air. Never wash in a washing machine, dont dry by hot air or on heaters. If necessary, use soap water and a soft brush or sponge to remove heavy stains. Never use washing powders or chemical solvents. Have small damages repaired immediately.

METALIGHT

Shoulder velcro fastening is very simple and increases insulation of the suit, because the insulation layer is unbroken on the body. Two-way zip makes putting on of the suit easier and is very useful when you drink too much, especially in cold weather. Design of the suit is shaped into the sitting position, so it fits perfectly when you sit in a boat and there are no wrinkles to reduce its heat comfort. Bottom reinforcement increases abrasion resistance of the neoprene and heat comfort of the suit.

How to choose shoes and gloves?

Choose a type of shoes and gloves according to their use and your personal preference. You should consider whether you prefer low shoes, boots, or socks, way of fastening and reinforcement. Choosing the hand protection you need to decide between gloves, that fit your hands tightly, but somebody can feel the grasp of a paddle uncomfortable, and pogies, that protect from cold, and allow to hold the paddle in bare hands, but putting them on is a bit complicated. Choose the right size. The shoes or gloves shouldnt be too tight, otherwise they wear through quickly. If they are too loose, they fill with water and lose their insulation function.
Hand circumference is measured around the knuckles of your dominant hand (see the picture).

PU leather
Leather imitation with excellent characteristics in water. It keeps its quality and remains soft and comfortable.
TECNOPILE
Traditional comfortable fleece with Teflon addition provides high thermal insulation, while satisfying weight requirments. It is light, elastic, breathable, quick-drying, non-creasing, abrasion resistant, easily maintained fabric.
ULTRASTRETCH
Softened neoprene rubber laminated with a layer of extremely elastic knit. This combination provides high elasticity.
Shoes and gloves maintenance

Maintain the gloves and shoes like other neoprene garment. For hygienic reasons it is suitable to rinse the shoes or socks after each use in clean water and let them dry properly in the air. Never wash in a washing machine, dont dry by hot air or on heaters. If necessary, use soap water and a soft brush or sponge to remove heavy stains. Never use washing powders or chemical solvents.
PU
Highly durable waterproof polyurethane coating with high abrasion resistance. It is used to protect strained parts.
NTX2
Double sided neoprene rubber laminated on both sides with a layer of elastic knit. It is a basic material for neoprene outfit.

What equipment can be found on our bags

Upper rims of the bag are reinforced by plastic bars that help to close it properly.
Bags
There is often a situation when a paddler needs to separate dry pieces of his clothes and equipment from wet or to protect them from water. Therefore we offer a wide range of watertight (dry) bags with general or specific use. They differ in fabric durability, weight and additional outfit, i.e. carrying and tightening systems, compression valve and so on.
Buckles fasten downwards to compression straps, so the bag is closed tightly and the buckles dont stand in the way.
The bag buckles upwards, so it creates a handle for easy carrying.
The bag can be attached to the deck by the adjustable system of elastics with plastic carabiners.
The bag is fitted with system of elastics that can be used to attach a map or other things to the bag.
Carrying system consists of handles and eventually of a shoulder strap, that make carrrying of the bag comfortable.
Compression valve can be used to deflate the bag during packing or to inflate it when necessary.
How to seal the dry bag properly?

Straighten and flat the edges carefully and roll them tightly at least three or four times. Then fasten the buckles and eventually tighten the straps if possible.
The bag is fitted with an outer pocket for odds that can get wet.
How to choose a bag and maintain it?

Decide how you are going to use the bag, in which type of boat, which features are important for you durability, abrasion resistance or low weight and compactness. If you need to pack the bag into some small space, for example into a seakayak, a compression valve will come in handy. Choose a bag with a suitable carrying system if you plan to walk with your stuff for long distance, on the other hand the carrying system is an obstruction in the boat. When you choose the volume, never forget you need to roll the edges of the bag enough to seal it.
