English Language Proficiency Test


Introduction:

This is an English Language Proficiency Test of the Department of Foreign Languages, Linguistics and Literature of the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE). It is managed and administered by the qualified members of academic staff from this department who examine the following proficiencies altogether: The individuals commanding power of spoken English (speaking Communicative Standard English). Individual ability in reading English The individual ability to write in standard English The individuals listening ability of standard English

The testing mechanisms, all together, are for one English proficiency certificate which will be issued to and born by the tested individual person.

All payments have to be channeled through the following account (in any branch in the country): Bank: CRDB, Account Name: DUCE Pre-entry Account, Account Number: 01J1092000004. Clients are required to bring and leave bank pay-in-slips which will be kept by the coordinator at DUCE for record keeping purposes.
Tests Time Frame:

The College will make arrangements to conduct English Proficiency Tests THREE TIMES every month. Clients and interested parties should note that examination dates may change depending on the arrangements at DUCE.
Registration for tests: Once payments have been made, the client(s) will be required to register for examinations in the Department of Foreign Languages, Linguistics and Literature at Dar es Salaam University

Kiswahili for Beginners


Introduction:

The Department of Kiswahili at DUCE offers Kiswahili for Beginner Course that takes students through listening, speaking, reading and writing activities using cultural contents. For this course, special emphasis is placed on East African content. Also, there will be classroom and out-of-class activities or exercises that will require frequent day-to-day interaction with native speakers of Kiswahili in Tanzania (Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Bagamoyo etc.). The course generally aims at enabling students to develop some Kiswahili interactive and communicative skills which will enable them to communicate with Tanzanians and other Kiswahili speakers with ease. Mode of Delivery: There will be two modes of delivering this course, namely intensive course and evening classes. Intensive course will be offered for eight weeks consecutively. This course will be offered during the long vacation, i.e. June September every year. Evening classes for Kiswahili for beginners will be offered after normal working hours, i.e. between 03.00 pm - 08.00 pm during the week-days. Translation Services
Introduction:

The Translation Service is offered by two departments: (i) Foreign Languages, Linguistics and Literature and (ii) Kiswahili at Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE). The translation work involves the following language trends: (i) (iv) English Kiswahili Kiswahili French (ii) Kiswahili English (v) French English (iii) French Kiswahili (vi) English French.

Charges per status of work:

The translated works are charged in two ways, ordinary and express. The ordinary charges involve the kind of payment when work is done in normal time frame while express payment involves fast tracked work. are as follows: Paper Size: A4, Line Spacing: 1.5, Font type: Times New Roman, Font size: 12 points, and Margins: 2.5cm left and top and 2cm right and bottom.
