A 4oice From The ,ast!
A n"mber o, $ears ago one o, o"r great ,orer"nners 'eorge Ha!tin had this to sa$ ( ho! per,e)t#$ it ,its
o"r present s)ene.
./entecost in any man's life should be one of the initial e%periences of his progress towards son(ship!
It should be the al*ha 5 not the omega, the beginning rather than the end. /entecost is really the
earnest of our inheritance; it is not the inheritance itself! 2ph.1:13. 0he word here rendered, 1*23140,
in the reek means; a pledge, a part of the purchase money or property given in advance as security for
the rest! Long ago in Israel when one man bought a piece of land from another, the seller removed his
shoe from his foot, filled it with the soil, 5 gave it to the buyer, signifying that the land was now his
possession 5 inheritance! R"th.3:/. 0his shoe full of soil was called the earnest of the inheritance! 0hat is
what the baptism of the )oly 4pirit really is! /entecost is the earnest or a foretaste of a great inheritance
to come. Let us not miss this fact, however! 0he earnest of the inheritance contained in minute form the
6ualities of the inheritance, 5 on that glorious /entecost about two thousand years ago there was an
6/13 )1*713! 0he sounds of a rushing mighty wind came from heaven! 0ongues of fire came from
heaven 5 filled the waiting believers! 0hose assembled that glorious day had their spiritual senses
awakened! 0hey saw the heavenly fire; they heard the heavenly wind as the )oly 4pirit swept over them!
0hey felt the glory through their mortal bodies until they staggered about as drunken men full of the wine
of the heavenly 8anaan! 0hey were men transformed because they tasted of the blessing 5 the glory 5 the
power of another world, a heavenly world, 5 the world of their heavenly citi+enship! *s they walked in
the glory of that earnest of their inheritance, nothing could stand before them! 3othing could gainsay or
resist them! 0he shadow of /eter healed the sick! *ngels descended from the glory world to open their
prisons 5 set them free! A)ts. 5:11. 9ead were raised to life, demons scampered away to the nether
regions, 5 multitudes were converted to 8hrist! All this was but the beginning. t is not the end. -e do
not need another ,entecost, which was the 1arnest of our inheritance! -$ M7+T !"- ,"++$++ T'$
!'$#TA!1$ T+$.F ((( our spiritual 8anaan, our heavenly citi+enship!

0he e%cellence of the realm of which we speak may seem to cast a shadow of doubt over our minds,
for tradition has not taught us to e8*ect these glories here 5 now as part of our inheritance, but has
taught us rather to e8*ect them after death in some far distant day. :ut for the sake of faith 5 hope that
maketh not ashamed, the word of od is replete with Many 'itnesses of men 5 women who, while here
on this earth, walked in the light of an 6pen )eaven, having all their s*iritual senses wide awake to see,
hear, taste touch 5 feel 5 smell the effulgent glory of an open heaven!; <n$uote!
