BENEFITS FOR BUSINESS AND WORKERS

SPONSORED BY ARCADIA GROUP, MARKS & SPENCER, MOTHERCARE, NEW LOOK, SAINSBURYS AND TESCO SUPPORTED BY THE UK DEPARTMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS RAGS CHALLENGE FUND BBW is a factory-wide training module which will equip your Industrial Engineer, Production and HR managers with the latest management techniques to: Develop solid and robust systems to make sustained productivity and quality improvements Meet challenges of todays industry and learn how to contend with changing pressures Create great jobs that add huge value to your business APPROACH CHANGE FOCUSED: using tools at the forefront of the industry PRACTICAL: this is not about theory BUILDS ON SUCCESS: focussed on what works 6 retailers, with global clothing sales worth more than 9 billion, have joined together with wellrespected international consultants Impactt and Rajesh Bheda Consulting (RBC), with the backing of the UK Department for International Developments RAGS Challenge Fund to develop training modules based on in-depth work with garment factories across India and Bangladesh. Training will be offered in the first instance to factories supplying these six brands. Training is worth 4.9 lakh taka. DfID and the brands are subsidising 45%. The training fee to factories is 2.9 lakh taka (includes VAT/tax)

Costing analysis and efficiency measurement is very important for the garment business. All costs are fixed apart from needle time of workers. How efficiently we use this workforce, that is very important. RAGS gave us some techniques which take us to the micro level and increase needle time without increase cost. Its a win win situation for both (business and workers.). GM Earlier we have absenteeism 4.1% and turnover 3.5% which is very low and compare with other factory we are in a good position. Rags idea is even best can be improved now our position changes, we have absenteeism 1.8% and turnover 1.4%. Its a remarkable achievement. Manager HR & Compliance Rags give us some new technique which is easily communicated with the workers so they understand how to handle bottle neck, how to improve quality. Why we need skill matrix, why we use traffic light and need of the line balance. Its a joint combination of industrial engineering and production. We have a strong bond within industrial engineering and production to work together to make our customer happy. AGM Productivity

Earlier I speak with 100 workers in a week, after Rags induction training every day I speak with 70-80 workers a day, result is amazing. Now workers are well aware of their role and responsibility. They are more attentive on their work. They do not bring their mobile with them. Welfare Officer

Smooth HR management system is very important to handle big workforce like us. Policy needs to be clear and well communicated with the workers. Rags give us some system which is very effective to touch workers hearts. Now they feel more responsible for their work and follow the system what we made to run this factory. DGM HR & Compliance
