Q.1 Good classroom management is considered as a skill which every teacher should have. Highlight the importance of lesson planning and its close relationship with classroom management. (20) Q.2 Teachers and students play important role in the context of English language teaching. Define the concept of role and its various types in language teaching. (20) Q.3 Making Teaching Plan is a significant step in language teaching that makes learning and teaching effective. What do you understand by the term teaching plan and what does it involve? (Read pages 55-67). (20) Q.4 Define similarities and differences in syllabus and curriculum and their importance in language learning/teaching? (20) Q.5 Explain the following terms: (20) a) Testing and Evaluation. b) Seven important considerations for the teachers in designing and implementing a syllabus. c) Presentation, Practice and Production. d) Authentic Material.

ASSIGNMENT No. 2
This assignment is a research project. You are required to study the relevant material, conduct research and prepare a brief written report on what you have done. Submit the report to your tutor whose feedback will be useful to you. Always keep the copy of it for your record before submitting it to the tutor.

You have to give an oral presentation in the Presentation Workshop (the scheduled/plan of the presentation workshop will be intimated by the tutor or the Regional Director concerned). This assignment carries 100 marks: 40 marks are allocated for the written report and 60 for oral presentation. To pass this course you have to secure at least 40% marks in each of the above components. If you fail to obtain the required marks, you would be unfortunately declared fail even if you have passed the written exam and other assignment of the course.

RESEARCH QUESTION:
Prepare you project on any one of the following topics. Your tutor will allot different questions to different students equally dividing them according to the number of the students. For example, in a class of 15 students, the same topic will not be assigned to more than five students. 1. Design a questionnaire for the teachers consisting of at least 10 questions. The questions should relate to whether they make teaching plans before going to their respective classes or not. Find out the effects of teaching plan if they do and the effects if they do not. Get the questionnaire filled by at least 5-8 teachers to support your findings. The use of authentic material is usually considered a significant resource in language learning/teaching. In this context, plan an activity where you use any 1 kind of authentic material chosen from newspapers, magazines etc. to teach English language. Select sample authentic material and make a lesson plan to teach any 1 of the 4 language skills. In our educational field, we come across different types of syllabi, which are prescribed by different educational institutes. Keeping in mind the above, evaluate and analyse different English text-books, prescribed by any textbook board to see how the syllabi are designed and implemented in different set-ups.
