I t is d i f f i c u l t to believe t h a t we are finishing up t h e second quarter! All of t h e t e a c h e r s and students at J M E S have been working hard to ensure each child's success. Your child spends a great an\ount of time here with us, do you o f t e n wonder t h e s p e c i f i c s of instruction? H e r e is what literacy instruction looks like f o r your child. Teachers conduct ongoing assessments, as well as benchmark assessments to d e t e r mine your child's progress on specific standards and overall literacy ability. Based on t h e s e assessments, your child's teacher matches his or her instruction to those needs. A variety of teaching methods are used to keep all children motivated and e x c i t e d . Each student also participates in "Intervention and E x tension" lessons provided by t h e grade level to help meet t h e needs of all students. You can help extend your child's hard work at school by reading and discussing those books with them nightly at home.
