Panda Bear Hat

This is the very first pattern I have ever done. It was made for my friends 10 year old. I am going to try to write it.

Hat: join with sl st to top of ch 3 through out. (ch 3 counts as 1 st throughout) with white and size J hook (6.0mm)

1. Ch 2, 4sc in 2nd ch from hook join with sl st. 2. Ch 3, dc in same st, 2dc in ea sc. Join with sl st to 3 ring of ch 3. (8) 3. Ch 3, dc in same st, 2dc ea st across (16) 4. ch 3, 2dc next st, *1dc next st, 2dc next st* *rep around*. (24) 5. ch 3, dc next st, 2dc next st, * 1 dc in ea of next 2 st, 2dc next st* *rep around* (32) 6. ch 3, dc in ea of next 2 st, 2dc next st, * 1 dc in ea of next 3 st, 2dc next st* *rep around* (40) 7. ch 3, dc in ea of next 3 st, 2dc next st, * 1 dc in ea of next 4 st, 2dc next st* *rep around* (48) 8. ch 3, dc in ea st across, join with sl st to top of ch 3 (48) 9. Rep 8 until it reaches your desired length. I ended up using 11 rows total for mine. FO

Ear flaps: with size J hook (6.0mm) With Black 1. count 6 st over from back seam, join black yarn with sl st. 2. Ch 2, (counts as first st) hdc in next 11 sts. (12) 3. ch 2, dec hdc over first 2 sts, hdc in ea of next 8 sts, dec over last 2 sts (10) 4. ch 2, dec hdc over first 2 sts, hdc in ea of next 6 sts, dec over last 2 sts (8) 5. ch 2, dec hdc over first 2 sts, hdc in ea of next 4 sts, dec over last 2 sts (6)

6. ch 2, dec hdc over first 2 sts, hdc in ea of next 8 sts, dec over last 2 sts (4) FO Side Ties: 1. Cut 8 36 inch black pieces of yarn. (four pieces for each side) 2. Put four pieces together and fold the in half. Attach with a knot in row 6 of ear flaps. Braid the piece and tie the end with a knot. 3. Do same for other side.

Nose: size J hook with black 1. ch 5, sc 2nd ch from hook and ea across. (4) 2. ch 1, 2 sc first st, sc in ea of next 2 st, 2sc last st (6) 3. ch 1, sc ea st (6) 4. ch 1, scdec over first two sts, sc in ea of next 2 st, scdec over last 2 sts (4) FO

Eye Patch: Make two with size H hook (5.00mm) With black 1. ch 8, sc 2nd ch from hook and ea across (7) 2. ch 1, sc next 6 st, 2sc last st (8) 3. Ch 3, dc same st as ch 3, dc in ea of next 3 sts, sl st in ea of next 2 sts, dc in ea of next 3 sts (10) 4. Rotate work so you are wokring on the short side sl st, 2 hdc, sl st evenly across side. FO

EYE: Make Two Work in a round to not join. Size G hook (4.00mm) with black 1. ch 2, 3sc in end chain from hook. 2. 2sc ea st around (6) 3. Join white, sl st in back loops only of the next 3 sts. FO.

Ears: Make two Size 6.5mm hook 1. ch 3, 3 sc in 1 st. turn (3) 2. ch 3, dc same st, 2dc in remaining st, turn (6) 3. Ch 3, dc same st, 2dc ea remaining st, turn (12) 4. Ch 3, dc same st, 2 dc next st, dc in ea of next 8 sts, 2dc ea of next two sts (16) FO

Follow the picture for placement of face piece. I bunched the nose part up a little bit when I sewed it on to puff it up a little
