MEET MNCRs CO-CHAIR CANDIDATE, RACHEL JANSEN


On February 14th, 2013 it was announced that Rachel Jansen would be the Team Hasek nominee to fill the capacity of Co-Chair of Minnesota College Republicans. Rachel is a Junior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and is a Political Science major. She is also pursuing a minor in Communications. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the U of M College Republicans and as President of CFACT. Rachel started to get involved with Minnesota College Republicans during her freshman year at the University of Minnesota. She stated that she has always felt welcome in the organization and that former U of M Chair Phil Troy did a great job including her in College Republican activities. During her freshman year, she went on the CPAC trip to Washington D.C. and met many College Republicans throughout the state; many of them are her closest friends to this day. Rachel began to show an interest in politics during her sophomore and junior years of high school. She went to a leadership conference on law and advocacy during her sophomore year in Washington D.C. and attended a rally held at the Minneapolis Convention Center during the 2008 election. Jansen says that she is a Republican for many different reasons. Rachel believes in individual rights and in the U.S. Constitution. She is a proIsrael supporter, a gun owner, and a student that would like to have a job when she graduates. Rachel believes hard work is what made America great and that the federal government has no right to take away our personal freedoms. Rachel believes that her strong work ethic will help out the Minnesota College Republicans. She pledges to work extremely hard at getting students to be active on campus and helping chapters all over the state be as effective as possible in 2014. Rachel is from Oak Grove, Minnesota and graduated from Totino-Grace High School in 2010. In her spare time she loves to snowboard, hunt, and travel. She recently studied abroad in Italy this past fall. She had a great time and learned quite a bit about Italian culture and language. Rachel has also interned for Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Governor Tim Pawlenty.
