About the Residential Energy Audit Industry

An Energy Auditor will come to peoples homes and use tools like infrared scanners and blower tests to check for thermal leaks. They will nd areas in need of caulking, weather-stripping, and insulation and be able to give a very accurate report on problem areas, along with recommended solutions. Most auditors will charge $100-$500 for such a report, which essentially provides advice on what contractors will need to do in order to improve thermal leaks, along with advice on how to replace major appliances. Many utilities provide this service free of charge due to government initiatives.
