Statement of Purpose

Passion is what drives a man to success. It is that inherent zeal which makes him achieve his goals. The more reasons you have for your goal the more successful you will become. I have always been driven by an urge to know the how and why of things, often letting curiosity get the better of me. I also believe in thoroughness in understanding because it engenders confidence in ones ability and the courage to face the world. Learning has always spelled enjoyment for me, and when you enjoy doing something it is no work at all. Since my first introduction to the technology of computers, I was quite fascinated and this fascination has developed a latent interest for knowing more and increasing my knowledge in this field. From the days of my school, I had developed this interest and I always updated myself to the latest software and literature in this field. My first experience with the computers was in my first grade. At this very young age, computer for me was only a means of entertainment. Back then, my main attraction with computers was only Paintbrush. As I entered my Middle school from Primary, I found it exciting to play games and generating various mathematical series and patterns through BASIC programming. When I reached my high school, I was dumbfounded to know that games are nothing but programs. Curious to know how to program I developed a serious interest in Computers. It was an enthralling experience operating the system. By the end of my Xth grade I was trained in Logo, Basic, MS-office suite. Apart from computers I was also fascinated by mathematics. This led me to take my major as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in my Intermediate. This passion of computers coupled with mathematics has driven me to take my under graduation major in Information Technology at Padmasri Dr. B. V. Raju Institute of Technology which is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. The curriculum at my college exposed me to the entire gamut of computer and electronic courses thus laying a strong foundation for both my Hardware and Software fundamentals. This included all the basic courses like Programming in C and C++, Data Structures and Algorithms, Computer Graphics, Database Systems, Operating Systems, Information Security, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, Object Oriented System Design and Mobile Computing. I realized that what I learnt was not enough to have the expertise that I desired. My areas of interest include Network Security, Computer Networks and Artificial Intelligence. However for my MS program I remain open to other topics. Being an extrovert and very much a social person I always looked for some activity to keep me occupied and set me thinking. I love challenges and its concomitant thrills. This led me to dabble in a number of cultural and literary activities apart from my educational activities. My role as the Class Representative (CR) of my class for 4 years brought out the leader in me. I also learnt to manage events, organize, co-ordinate and perform under pressure. Exposure to numerous technical festivals, workshops, cultural festivals gave me immense perspective and orientation towards the world of technology and entertainment. I presented technical papers titled Pervasive Computing for which I received the first prize at technical fest Sangama - 2007 organised at Auroras Engineering College and I also participated in the NIIT National IT Aptitude Test (NITAT) and scored in the top 8%.

I pursued my mini project at Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) which is a Central Government Institution. My project work deals with the Interfacing of a Viscometer. A viscometer is an instrument used to measure the viscosity of a fluid. For liquids with viscosities which vary with flow conditions, an instrument called a rheometer is used. Viscometers only measure under one flow condition. We had done interfacing of the viscometer with the computer in order to carry out with the desired calculations for the scientific purpose. My final year project deals with Project Tracking Tool. It is a full featured and easy to use project management software that helps us to save time on planning, processing, tracking and completing the projects. Our tool reduces the overhead on the managers. It is the ideal project management software solution for people separated by vast distances and time zones. After my final year, I was placed in one of Indias top most reputed companies, Infosys Limited. I have joined the company on January 4th, 2010 as a Systems Engineer Trainee and underwent rigorous training for a span of 5 months. I then became a Systems Engineer from June, 2010 and was introduced into Siebel CRM. I am now part of a project whose client is RICOH based in UK and have been working in it ever since. Ricoh is a trusted technology leader, with an impressive track record for innovative and sustainable business solutions. Their products include Printers and Copiers for which we are developing the software, using Siebel tools, for their customers to place an order or to ask for support. It is one of the biggest account in our vertical. My desire to pursue further studies in USA is because it has the most dynamic atmosphere, which will shape me to be a thinker and a learner. The flexibility of the curriculum will give me the broad-based education I need to widen the scope of my knowledge and skills. The diversity of the student body will open my mind to new influences, ideas and new ways of doing things. The world is literally becoming a global village where opportunities for work are transcending physical space. With the cyberspace connections, Indian knowledge workers are increasingly contributing to the global work force. The international education will give me the competence to meet the global clients. Your university, I feel offers me the best in terms of courses, guidance, facilities and faculty. Being a hard working and committed professional, I am certain that I will be able to cope with the rigors of an International curriculum with ease. My determination to succeed and do well will enable me to be among the best students of your college. I am therefore eagerly looking forward to study in your esteemed University, which would enable me to possess the right combination of knowledge, skill and confidence to work towards the attainment of my career goals.
