Crop-Based Automated Ventilation Greenhouse System The ventilation system of a greenhouse is simply consists of sensors (temperature), comparator circuit,

microcontroller unit (MCU), actuators and output (fans, fogger and motorized side ventilation). With the used of comparator circuit, the system will compare the measured temperature with the range of temperature. If any of the measured air temperatures are greater than the set temperature, then another comparison is needed to determine on what type of ventilation is necessary to cool down the system. When the inside temperature alone is higher than the set temperature then the system will use either motorized side ventilation or fan motors or both. The motorized side ventilation alone is necessary when the outside air temperature is extremely lower than the lower value of the range then fan motors alone or combination of both is needed. When the both temperature is higher than the set temperature then the system cannot used the outside air. For this situation artificial coolers are needed. And for this system, fogger is the artificial cooler. Fogger uses very small water droplets which are sprayed into greenhouse air under high pressure using nozzles. A fraction of water droplets evaporate while coming in contact with air and due to high latent heat of vaporization of water, air temperature gets reduced. Automated Greenhouse Watering System Operation 1 The inputs of the device are soil moisture and humidity which trigger the components to produce output. A wireless sensor network can be used to gather data remotely because the temperature and humidity of greenhouses must be constantly monitored to ensure optimal conditions. The data are transmitted to a control switch and used to control heating, cooling, and irrigation systems. The soil moisture sensor serves as a water level indicator which identifies the moisture content of the soil and sends signals to PIC through wire connection. Through these data, the microprocessor will compare the data to the preset value and will send those compared data to the output device that will trigger the switch. The microprocessor is attached in a solenoid valve that is connected to the pipeline which serves as the path of water. The device will automatically water the dry soil and will give a sufficient consumption of water. The water will pass through the pipeline, then the pipeline is place in the soil bed where the water can easily penetrate to the soil of the plants. Operation 2 The inputs of the device are soil moisture and humidity which trigger the components to produce output. This sensor is needed to detect the moisture level of the soil in the greenhouse and then sends a signal to the microcontroller. This module had to limit the current entering the PIC so as not to damage the PIC.

The soil moisture and humidity sensors send signal to microcontroller. The microcontroller, or PIC, is needed to make comparisons between the inputs from the sensors and the preset values. It then outputs appropriate signals which are used to operate the devices to maintain the specified greenhouse conditions. The PIC was programmed using MicroCode programming. The microcontroller used in the project has a built in AC to DC converter, reprogrammable, and with sufficient input/output ports As a result, the solenoid valve (soil moisture) and mister (humidity) will be activated. Solenoid valves are used to control the automated flow of the water. It is controlled by an electric current through a solenoid coil. It will receive signals (on/off) from the microcontroller which vary the inputs of the soil moisture sensors. A mister is used to increase the relative humidity in the greenhouse. When the humidity sensors detects that the relative humidity inside the greenhouse is below the preset value, the microcontroller will send signal to the mister which triggers it to turn on. The final outcome is a device that can detect soil moisture and humidity in order to automatically irrigate crops using the concept of drip irrigation system.
