Gov 2.0 Taskforces final report Engage: Getting on with Government 2.0 recommends:

making public sector information (PSI) open, accessible and reusable.


Minister Tanner releases the Declaration of Open Government, supporting a pro-disclosure culture and making government information more accessible and usable.

2010

Amended Statement of Intellectual Property Principles for Australian Government Agencies sets default government copyright to Creative Commons (CC BY).

Commonwealth FOI reforms led to the establishment of the Office of the Information Commissioner and expressed an intent to promote disclosure of information held by government.

Challenges for public sector information release


The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) published eight Principles on open public sector information in 2011. In late 2012 the OAIC asked agencies to identify the most challenging Principle for them to implement.
