ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA When type of grout is not specified by the equipment Manufacturer, cementitious grout shall be used for any of the following situations: 1. For Rotating equipment that satisfies all of these requirements: a) Equipment with driver horsepower less than 500 (373 kW). b) Equipment with speeds 3600 RPM or less. c) Equipment that has a total weight of up to 2,270 kg (5,000 lbs) 2. Grouting of structural base plates, anchor bolts, columns and precast members, i.e: wall panels, beams, etc. Grout shall be free of hydrogen producing, oxydizing and inorganic accelerating agents. Grout shall be factory pre-packaged cement based noncatalyzed nonmetallic aggregate grout ready for use with the addition of water at the job site. Note: SAMS stock number 09-247-650-00 (SAP new material stock number 1000187870) can be used. Where true nonshrink characteristics are not mandatory, site mixed grout using clean well graded sand meeting 09-SAMSS-088 requirements (see below criteria), Type V Portland cement (as defined by ASTM C150) and potable water having a minimum 28 day compressive strength of 13.8 MPa (2,000psi). Note: Manufactured sand shall be washed prior to batching with water that contains no more than 3000 parts per million (ppm) of total dissolved solids (TDS). Maximum Allowable, % by Weight of Aggregates & Frequency of Test 1. Clay Lumps & Friable Particles 3.0% (max.) Monthly 2. Gradation & Materials finer than 5.0% (max). Weekly Number 200 Sieve: 3. Raw 1 & 2 Combined 6.0 % 4. Abrasion (Los Angeles) NA 5. Acid Soluble Chlorides as Cl 0.06% (max). BI-Monthly (ASTM C114) 6. Acid Soluble Sulfates as SO3 0.40% (max). Bi-Monthly (ASTM C114 or BS 812 : Part 118) 7. Magnesium Sulfates Soundness 25% (max). Bi-Monthly Minimum Compressive Strength of pre-packaged cement based grout at 28 days shall be 34.5MPa (5,000psi). Make 2 sets of 3 test cubes in the field each day grout is mixed and placed. (PIP STS03600, Sec. 4.2.1.1) Test cubes shall be provided the same cure the placed grout receives. (PIP STS03600, Sec. 4.2.1.2) Standard temperature of mix shall be 230C + 30C when test cubes are cast. (ASTM C1107, Sec. 9.1.2)
