From the Desk of Will Rogers Candidate for Polk County Republican Chairman ________________________________________________

February 2nd, 2013 Dear Central Committee Member, Until now, you may not have known that I have announced my intentions to seek the chairmanship of the Polk County Republican Party. And until now, I havent asked for your vote, but now, more than ever, I need your help in winning the race for chairman. As a dedicated Republican volunteer, like you, I am concerned with the direction our county, state, and country have taken over the past decade. Under democrat controlled leadership, we have witnessed the systematic failure of our government to live within its means and deliver the leadership we so desperately deserve. I believe that it is time for our government to get back to operating like our families do and live with in a budget. And when I am elected to the chairmanship, I will work hard to make sure that the people of Polk County are in charge of our government (and not the special interest groups that feed the democrat political machine.) Since early this year, I have been making phone calls and sending emails to members of the Polk County Republican Central Committee. And in almost every conversation, I have listened to your concerns. Many of you have expressed the same frustration that I feel concerning the direction our county, state, and country is headed in. From attacks on our constitutional rights, to excessive government spending and indebtedness, to a lack of trust in the political process, our values have never been more threatened than now. And until now, I would have been willing to have stood in the ranks of Republican volunteers and done my part to help elect Republicans. But things have changed. Recently, in the past few months, I have seen a number of problems with our county party that can no longer be ignored. And as County Chair, I will work to achieve the following: Unity among Republicans-For decades our party has been made up of a coalition of various political interests including moderates, social conservatives, constitutionalists, neo-conservatives, fiscal conservatives, libertarians, and objectivists. As county chairman, I will work to include a diversity of opinion in our party and ensure that everyone is treated with respect. Help Elect Republicans to Office-In order to advance any meaningful conservative legislation, we must win elections. And in 2014, we have the opportunity to make a difference in helping elect

Republicans. The first is retaking the long held Republican House Seat in Urbandale (House District 40). The second is winning back the Altoona House Seat (House District 30). The third opportunity is to win a third Republican supervisor district and take back the county courthouse for the first time in over 60 years. In addition, by competing in these races we need to do our part in helping elect a Republican U.S. Senator in 2014. Advancing the Party Platform-While our platform addresses many issues important to our county, state, and country, we dont all agree with every plank. That being acknowledged, our agenda for Polk County, Iowa, and the United States can be summed up in one phrase: God, country, freedom, and conservative principals. As your chairman, I will work to ensure that our agenda is moved in a positive direction that serves our government and our party. Voter Outreach-Continuing the success of voter outreach initiatives started by Chairman McLaughlin, I will work to connect with new Republican voters in a meaningful way. Hispanic, African American, other swing voters, must feel respected and welcomed to be part of our party. And our message should speak of both diversity and inclusion. As the bible says, Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. As chairman, I will focus on building a strong grassroots organization committed to the core principals of the Republican Party and dedicated to achieving victory. Combined with the solid financial resources, and both traditional and modern communications tools, we can help deliver majorities in the Unites States and Iowa Senates and help re-elect our incumbent Republicans. And in order to have a chance at winning this election, I am going to need your vote on Tuesday, February 26th. Please join me at our next Polk County Republican Central Committee Meeting taking place at the Downtown Holiday Inn, on Tuesday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m. Your vote will help me ensure that we can begin moving in new direction. Thank you in advance for your support. I look forward to working with you over the next two years as your chairman. Sincerely Yours,

Will Rogers Candidate, Polk County Republican Chair
