Worship team Devotional Passion for Jesus is what will lead us to focus our lives on worship.

What does that include? How did Jesus show passionate love for you? I looked up the word passion in the dictionary and there are many definitions but here are a few that caught my attention: A powerful emotion, such as love, joy Ardent love. The object of such love or desire. Boundless enthusiasm The object of such enthusiasm: ex. Soccer is her passion. An abandoned display of emotion. The sufferings and death of a Christian martyr. (Do we have so much passion for Jesus we would die for Him in standing up for Him as the martyrs of the past did? Wow! That is a very strong love motivation for someone to be burned in public for the sake of the name of Jesus. We have it so easy in this country that we are free to worship God but our level of passion and desire for Him should increase each day more and more.) Synonyms: fervor, fire, zeal, ardor These nouns denote powerful, intense emotion. Passion is a deep, overwhelming emotion. Fervor is great warmth and intensity of feeling. Fire is burning passion. Zeal is strong, enthusiastic devotion to a cause, ideal, or goal and tireless diligence Ardor is fiery intensity of feeling. The fervor for music and being part of a worship team ministry should always be a passion for Christ. King David no doubt had a passion for music. But it was a tool he used to express love to his True Passion, God Himself. Passion is taken from the Latin passio, meaning, suffering or enduring. With this in mind, to talk about passionate worship, or being passionate in our worship of God, is to imitate something of Jesus actions in his endurance of suffering on His way to the cross. The passion of Jesus represented a complete self-emptying and self-giving of love for the sake of love for humanity and a desire to restore relationship with man and God. If we are to be passionate in our worship of God then we need to have a profound self-emptying and self-giving obedience to God for the sake of his purposes in the world just as Jesus did. This is a place where we can see the connection between worship and our mission. Passionate worship isnt so much about being emotional, although being emotionally engaged is a great thing. But the truth is emotions can be deceiving and need to be directed in the mind. I might feel passionate one Sunday morning and not so much the next. But approaching worship by imitating the passionate self-giving of Jesus is something that I can intentionally engage in all the time. What makes our worship passionate is our encounter with the One who endured the passion, the suffering for us! In that sense, we cant be clever or creative to make our worship service more lively and less boring because that kind of focus should ignite a deeper love and excitement

every time. We need Jesus as our focus and to get excited and He will make the worship service very creative!!! Read Psalm 57:7-11 My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
