In the name of ALLAH, the Most Beneficient, the Most Merciful

Nooh (peace be upon him) in The Quran

__________________________________________________________

Allah chose Adam, Nooh (Noah), the family of Ibrahim (Abraham) and the family of Imran
above the Alameen (mankind and jinns) (of their times). [003:033]

Verily, We have inspired you (O Muhammad SAW) as We inspired Nooh (Noah) and the
Prophets after him; We (also) inspired Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac),
Yaqoob (Jacob), and AlAsbat (the twelve sons of Yaqoob (Jacob)), Iesa (Jesus), Ayub (Job),
Yoonus (Jonah), Haroon (Aaron), and Sulaiman (Solomon), and to Dawood (David) We gave
the Zaboor. [004:163]

And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac) and Yaqoob (Jacob), each of them We guided,
and before him, We guided Nooh (Noah), and among his progeny Dawood (David),
Sulaiman (Solomon), Ayub (Job), Yoosuf (Joseph), Moosa (Moses), and Haroon (Aaron). Thus
do We reward the gooddoers. [006:084]

Indeed, We sent Nooh (Noah) to his people and he said: “O my people! Worship Allah! You
have no other Ilah (God) but Him. (La ilaha ill-Allah: none has the right to be worshipped
but Allah). Certainly, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day!” [007:059]

The leaders of his people said: “Verily, we see you in plain error.” [007:060]

(Nooh (Noah)) said: “O my people! There is no error in me, but I am a Messenger from the
Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)! [007:061]

“I convey unto you the Messages of my Lord and give sincere advice to you. And I know
from Allah what you know not. [007:062]

“Do you wonder that there has come to you a Reminder from your Lord through a man from
amongst you, that he may warn you, so that you may fear Allah and that you may receive
(His) Mercy?” [007:063]

But they belied him, so We saved him and those along with him in the ship, and We
drowned those who belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations,
etc.). They were indeed a blind people. [007:064]

“Do you wonder that there has come to you a Reminder (and an advice) from your Lord
through a man from amongst you that he may warn you? And remember that He made you
successors after the people of Nooh (Noah), and increased you amply in stature. So
remember the graces (bestowed upon you) from Allah, so that you may be successful.”
[007:069]

I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His

Has not the story reached them of those before them? - The people of Nooh (Noah), Ad,
and Thamood, the people of Ibraheem (Abraham), the dwellers of Madyan (Midian) and the
cities overthrown (i.e. the people to whom Lout (Lot) preached), to them came their
Messengers with clear proofs. So it was not Allah Who wronged them, but they used to
wrong themselves. [009:070]

And recite to them the news of Nooh (Noah). When he said to his people: “O my people, if
my stay (with you), and my reminding (you) of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons,
signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah is hard on you, then I put my trust in Allah. So devise your
plot, you and your partners, and let not your plot be in doubt for you. Then pass your
sentence on me and give me no respite. [010:071]

“But if you turn away (from accepting my doctrine of Islamic Monotheism, i.e. to worship
none but Allah), then no reward have I asked of you, my reward is only from Allah, and I
have been commanded to be one of the Muslims.” [010:072]

They denied him, but We delivered him, and those with him in the ship, and We made them
generations replacing one after another, while We drowned those who belied Our Ayat
(proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). Then see what was the end of those
who were warned. [010:073]

Then after him We sent Messengers to their people, they brought them clear proofs, but
they would not believe what they had already rejected beforehand. Thus We seal the hearts
of the transgressors. [010:074]

And indeed We sent Nooh (Noah) to his people (and he said): “I have come to you as a
plain warner.” [011:025]

“That you worship none but Allah, surely, I fear for you the torment of a painful Day.”
[011:026]

The chiefs of the disbelievers among his people said: “We see you but a man like ourselves,
nor do we see any follow you but the meanest among us and they (too) followed you
without thinking. And we do not see in you any merit above us, in fact we think you are
liars.” [011:027]

He said: “O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear proof from my Lord, and a Mercy
(Prophethood, etc.) has come to me from Him, but that (Mercy) has been obscured from
your sight. Shall we compel you to accept it (Islamic Monotheism) when you have a strong
hatred for it? [011:028]

“And O my people! I ask of you no wealth for it, my reward is from none but Allah. I am not
going to drive away those who have believed. Surely, they are going to meet their Lord, but
I see that you are a people that are ignorant. [011:029]

“And O my people! Who will help me against Allah, if I drove them away? Will you not then
give a thought? [011:030]

”And I do not say to you that with me are the Treasures of Allah, “Nor that I know the
Ghaib (unseen); “nor do I say I am an angel, and I do not say of those whom your eyes look
down upon that Allah will not bestow any good on them. Allah knows what is in their inner-
selves (as regards belief, etc.). In that case, I should, indeed be one of the Zalimoon
(wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.).” [011:031]

They said: “O Nooh (Noah)! You have disputed with us and much have you prolonged the
dispute with us, now bring upon us what you threaten us with, if you are of the
truthful.”[011:032]

He said: “Only Allah will bring it (the punishment) on you, if He will, and then you will
escape not. [011:033]

“And my advice will not profit you, even if I wish to give you good counsel, if Allahs Will is to
keep you astray. He is your Lord! and to Him you shall return.” [011:034]

Or they (the pagans of Makkah) say: “He (Muhammad SAW) has fabricated it (the Quran).”
Say: “If I have fabricated it, upon me be my crimes, but I am innocent of (all) those crimes
which you commit.” [011:035]

And it was inspired to Nooh (Noah): “None of your people will believe except those who
have believed already. So be not sad because of what they used to do. [011:036]

“And construct the ship under Our Eyes and with Our Inspiration, and address Me not on
behalf of those who did wrong; they are surely to be drowned.”
[011:037]

And as he was constructing the ship, whenever the chiefs of his people passed by him, they
made a mockery of him. He said: “If you mock at us, so do we mock at you likewise for your
mocking. [011:038]

“And you will know who it is on whom will come a torment that will cover him with disgrace
and on whom will fall a lasting torment.” [011:039]

(So it was) till then there came Our Command and the oven gushed forth (water like
fountains from the earth). We said: “Embark therein, of each kind two (male and female),
and your family, except him against whom the Word has already gone forth, and those who
believe. And none believed with him, except a few.” [011:040]

And he (Nooh (Noah) ) said: “Embark therein, in the Name of Allah will be its moving course
and its resting anchorage. Surely, my Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [011:041]

So it (the ship) sailed with them amidst the waves like mountains, and Nooh (Noah) called
out to his son, who had separated himself (apart), “O my son! Embark with us and be not
with the disbelievers.” [011:042]

The son replied: “I will betake myself to a mountain, it will save me from the water.” Nooh
(Noah) said: “This day there is no saviour from the Decree of Allah except him on whom He
has mercy.” And a wave came in between them, so he (the son) was among the drowned.
[011:043]

And it was said: “O earth! Swallow up your water, and O sky! Withhold (your rain).” And the
water was diminished (made to subside) and the Decree (of Allah) was fulfilled (i.e. the
destruction of the people of Nooh (Noah). And it (the ship) rested on Mount Judi, and it was
said: “Away with the people who are Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doing)!” [011:044]

And Nooh (Noah) called upon his Lord and said, “O my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family!
And certainly, Your Promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges.” [011:045]

He said: “O Nooh (Noah)! Surely, he is not of your family; verily, his work is unrighteous, so
ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge! I admonish you, lest you be one of the
ignorants.” [011:046]

Nooh (Noah) said: “O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have
no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I would indeed be one of
the losers.” [011:047]

It was said: “O Nooh (Noah)! Come down (from the ship) with peace from Us and blessings
on you and on the people who are with you (and on some of their off spring), but (there will
be other) people to whom We shall grant their pleasures (for a time), but in the end a
painful torment will reach them from Us.” [011:048]

This is of the news of the unseen which We reveal unto you (O Muhammad SAW), neither
you nor your people knew them before this. So be patient. Surely, the (good) end is for the
Muttaqoon. [011:049]

Has not the news reached you, of those before you, the people of Nooh (Noah), and Ad, and
Thamud? And those after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came their
Messengers with clear proofs, but they put their hands in their mouths (biting them from
anger) and said: “Verily, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and we are
really in grave doubt as to that to which you invite us. [014:009]

Their Messengers said: “What! Can there be a doubt about Allah, the Creator of the
heavens and the earth? He calls you (to Monotheism and to be obedient to Allah) that He
may forgive you of your sins and give you respite for a term appointed.” They said: “You
are no more than human beings like us! You wish to turn us away from what our fathers
used to worship. Then bring us a clear authority. [014:010]

Their Messengers said to them: “We are no more than human beings like you, but Allah
bestows His Grace to whom He wills of His slaves. It is not ours to bring you an authority
(proof) except by the Permission of Allah. And in Allah (Alone) let the believers put their
trust. [014:011]

“And why should we not put our trust in Allah while He indeed has guided us our ways. And
we shall certainly bear with patience all the hurt you may cause us, and in Allah (Alone) let
those who trust, put their trust.” [014:012]

And those who disbelieved, said to their Messengers: “Surely, we shall drive you out of our
land, or you shall return to our religion.” So their Lord inspired them: “Truly, We shall
destroy the Zalimoon (wrong-doers.). [014:013]

I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His
servant and messenger

And indeed, We shall make you dwell in the land after them. This is for him who fears
standing before Me (on the Day of Resurrection or fears My Punishment) and also fears My
Threat.” [014:014]

But they (the Messengers) sought victory and help, and every obstinate, arrogant dictator
(who refuses to believe in the Oneness of Allah) was brought to a complete loss and
destruction. [014:015]

“O offspring of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Nooh (Noah)! Verily, he was a
grateful slave.” [017:003]

And how many generations have We destroyed after Nooh (Noah)! And Sufficient is your
Lord as an All-Knower and All-Beholder of the sins of His slaves. [017:017]

Those were they unto whom Allah bestowed His Grace from among the Prophets, of the
offspring of Adam, and of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Nooh (Noah), and of the
offspring of Ibrahim (Abraham) and Israel and from among those whom We guided and
chose. When the Verses of the Most Beneficent (Allah) were recited unto them, they fell
down prostrating and weeping. [019:058]

And (remember) Nooh (Noah), when he cried (to Us) aforetime. We listened to his
invocation and saved him and his family from great distress. [021:076]

We helped him against people who denied Our Ayat (signs). Verily, they were a people
given to evil. So We drowned them all. [021:077]

And if they belie you (O Muhammad SAW), so were belied the Prophets before them, (by)
the people of Nooh (Noah), Ad and Thamood, [022:042]

And the people of Ibrahim (Abraham) and the people of Lout (Lot) [022:043]

And the dwellers of Madyan (Midian); and belied was Moosa (Moses), but I granted respite
to the disbelievers for a while, then I seized them, and how (terrible) was My Punishment.
[022:044]

And indeed We sent Nooh (Noah) to his people, and he said: “O my people! Worship Allah!
You have no other Ilah (God) but Him (Islamic Monotheism). Will you not then be afraid (of
Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?” [023:023]

But the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said: “He is no more than a
human being like you, he seeks to make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed, He surely
could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing among our fathers of old.
[023:024]

“He is only a man in whom is madness, so wait for him a while.” [023:025]

I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His
servant and messenger

(Nooh (Noah)) said: “O my Lord! Help me because they deny me.” [023:026]

So We inspired him (saying): “Construct the ship under Our Eyes and under Our Revelation
(guidance). Then, when Our Command comes, and the oven gushes forth water, take on
board of each kind two (male and female), and your family, except those thereof against
whom the Word has already gone forth. And address Me not in favour of those who have
done wrong. Verily, they are to be drowned. [023:027]

And when you have embarked on the ship, you and whoever is with you, then say: “All the
praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who are Zalimoon (i.e.
oppressors, wrong-doers, polytheists, those who join others in worship with Allah, etc.).
[023:028]

And say: “My Lord! Cause me to land at a blessed landing-place, for You are the Best of
those who bring to land.” [023:029]

Verily, in this (what We did as regards drowning of the people of Nooh (Noah)), there are
indeed Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc. for men to understand), for sure We are
ever putting (men) to the test. [023:030]

Then, after them, We created another generation. [023:031]

And We sent to them a Messenger from among themselves (saying): “Worship Allah! You
have no other Ilah (God) but Him. Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment
because of worshipping others besides Him)?” [023:032]

And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and
to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: “He is no more than a
human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink.
[023:033]

“If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily! You indeed would be
losers. [023:034]

“Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you
shall come out alive (resurrected)? [023:035]

“Far, very far is that which you are promised. [023:036]

“There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be
resurrected! [023:037]

“He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in
him.” [023:038]

He said: “O my Lord! Help me because they deny me.” [023:039]

(Allah) said: “In a little while, they are sure to be regretful.” [023:040]

So As-Saeehah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them

as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimoon (polytheists, wrong-
doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). [023:041]

Then, after them, We created other generations. [023:042]

No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. [023:043]

And Noohs (Noah) people, when they denied the Messengers We drowned them, and We
made them as a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful torment for the
Zalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc). [025:037]

And (also) Ad and Thamood, and the dwellers of Ar-Rass, and many generations in
between. [025:038]

And for each of them We put forward examples, and each (of them) We brought to utter
ruin. [025:039]

The people of Nooh (Noah) belied the Messengers. [026:105]

When their brother Nooh (Noah) said to them: “Will you not fear Allah and obey Him?
[026:106]

“I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. [026:107]

“So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. [026:108]

“No reward do I ask of you for it, my reward is only from the Lord of the Alameen (mankind,
jinns and all that exists). [026:109]

“So keep your duty to Allah, fear Him and obey me.” [026:110]

They said: “Shall we believe in you, when the meanest (of the people) follow you?”
[026:111]

He said: “And what knowledge have I of what they used to do? [026:112]

“Their account is only with my Lord, if you could (but) know. [026:113]

“And I am not going to drive away the believers. [026:114]

I am only a plain warner.” [026:115]

They said: “If you cease not, O Nooh (Noah)! You will surely be among those stoned (to
death).” [026:116]

He said: “My Lord! Verily, my people have belied me. [026:117]

Therefore judge You between me and them, and save me and those of the believers who
are with me.” [026:118]

I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His
servant and messenger

And We saved him and those with him in the laden ship. [026:119]

Then We drowned the rest (disbelievers) thereafter. [026:120]

Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. [026:121]

And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. [026:122]

And indeed We sent Nooh (Noah) to his people, and he stayed among them a thousand
years less fifty years, and the Deluge overtook them while they were Zalimoon (wrong-
doers, polytheists, disbelievers etc.). [029:014]

Then We saved him and those with him in the ship, and made it as an Ayah (lesson, sign
etc.) for the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists). [029:015]

So We punished each for his sins, of them were some on whom We sent Hasiban (a violent
wind with shower of stones), and of them were some who were overtaken by AsSaihah
(torment-awful cry, etc.), and of them were some whom We caused the earth to swallow,
and of them were some whom We drowned. It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they
wronged themselves. [029:040]

And (remember) when We took from the Prophets their covenant, and from you (O
Muhammad SAW), and from Nooh (Noah), Ibrahim (Abraham), Moosa (Moses), and Iesa
(Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). We took from them a strong covenant. [033:007]
————————————————————————————————

And an Ayah (sign) for them is that We bore their offspring in the laden ship. [036:041]
————————————————————————————————

And indeed Nooh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer. [037:075]

And We rescued him and his family from the great distress [037:076]

And, his progeny, them We made the survivors [037:077]

And left for him among generations to come in later times [037:078]

Salamun (peace) be upon Nooh (Noah) among the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that
exists)! [037:079]

Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinoon (good-doers). [037:080]

Verily, he (Nooh (Noah)) was one of Our believing slaves. [037:081]

Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.). [037:082]

And, verily, among those who followed his (Nooh (Noah)) way (Islamic Monotheism) was
Ibrahim (Abraham). [037:083]

I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His
servant and messenger

Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nooh (Noah); and Ad; and
Firaun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes. [038:012]

The people of Nooh (Noah) and the confederates after them denied (their Messengers)
before these, and every (disbelieving) nation plotted against their Messenger to seize him,
and disputed by means of falsehood to refute therewith the truth. So I seized them (with
punishment), and how (terrible) was My punishment! [040:005]

And he who believed said: “O my people! Verily, I fear for you a fate like that day (of
disaster) of the Confederates (of old)! [040:030]

“Like the fate of the people of Nooh (Noah), and Ad, and Thamood and those who came
after them. And Allah wills no injustice for (His) slaves. [040:031]

He (Allah) has ordained for you the same religion (Islam) which He ordained for Nooh
(Noah), and that which We have inspired in you (O Muhammad SAW), and that which We
ordained for Ibraheem (Abraham), Moosa (Moses) and Iesa (Jesus) saying you should
establish religion, and make no divisions in it (religion) (i.e. various sects in religion).
Intolerable for the Mushrikoon , is that to which you (O Muhammad SAW) call them. Allah
chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides unto Himself who turns to Him in
repentance and in obedience. [042:013]

Denied before them (i.e. these pagans of Makkah who denied Muhammad SAW) the people
of Nooh (Noah), and the dwellers of Rass, and the Thamood, [050:012]

And Ad, and Firaun (Pharaoh), and the brethren of Lout (Lot), [050:013]

And the dwellers of the Wood, and the people of Tubba; everyone of them denied (their)
Messengers, so My (Allah) Threat took effect. [050:014]

(So were) the people of Nooh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were
Fasiqoon (disobedient to Allah). [051:046]
————————————————————————————————

And the people of Nooh (Noah) aforetime, verily, they were more unjust and more
rebellious and transgressing. [053:052]
————————————————————————————————

The people of Nooh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave,
and said: “A madman!” and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. [054:009]

Then he invoked his Lord (saying): “I have been overcome, so help (me)!” [054:010]

So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. [054:011]

And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the
earth) met for a matter predestined. [054:012]

I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His
servant and messenger

And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, [054:013]

Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! [054:014]

And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive
admonition)? [054:015]

Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? [054:016]

And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any
that will remember (or receive admonition)? [054:017]

And indeed, We sent Nooh (Noah) and Ibraheem (Abraham), and placed in their offspring
Prophethood and Scripture, and among them there is he who is guided, but many of them
are Fasiqoon (disobedient to Allah). [057:026]
————————————————————————————————

Allah sets forth an example for those who disbelieve, the wife of Nooh (Noah) and the wife
of Lout (Lot). They were under two of our righteous slaves, but they both betrayed their
(husbands by rejecting their doctrine) so they (Nooh (Noah) and Lout (Lot)) benefited them
not, against Allah, and it was said: “Enter the Fire along with those who enter!” [066:010]

Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits, We carried you (mankind) in the floating
(ship). [069:011]

That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may understand
it. [069:012]
————————————————————————————————

Verily, We sent Nooh (Noah) to his people (Saying): “Warn your people before there comes
to them a painful torment.” [071:001]

He said: “O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, [071:002]

That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, [071:003]

“He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the
term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew.” [071:004]

He said: “O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day, [071:005]

“But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). [071:006]

“And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their
fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their
refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. [071:007]

“Then verily, I called to them openly; [071:008]

I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His
servant and messenger

“Then verily, I proclaimed to them in public, and I have appealed to them in private,
[071:009]

“I said (to them): Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; [071:010]

He will send rain to you in abundance; [071:011]

And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on
you rivers.” [071:012]

What is the matter with you, you hope not for reward [071:013]

While He has created you in (different) stages? [071:014]

See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, [071:015]

And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? [071:016]

And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [071:017]

Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth? [071:018]

And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread. [071:019]

That you may go about therein in broad roads. [071:020]

Nooh (Noah) said: “My Lord! They have disobeyed me, and followed one whose wealth and
children give him no increase but only loss. [071:021]

“And they have plotted a mighty plot. [071:022]

“And they have said: You shall not leave your gods, nor shall you leave Wadd, nor Suwa, nor
Yaghooth, nor Yaooq, nor Nasr (names of the idols); [071:023]

“And indeed they have led many astray. And (O Allah): Grant no increase to the Zalimoon
(polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.) save error.” [071:024]

Because of their sins they were drowned, then were made to enter the Fire, and they found
none to help them instead of Allah. [071:025]

And Nooh (Noah) said: “My Lord! Leave not one of the disbelievers on the earth!
[071:026]

“If You leave them, they will mislead Your slaves, and they will beget none but wicked
disbelievers.” [071:027]

“My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and him who enters my home as a believer, and all
the believing men and women. And to the Zalimoon (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.) grant
You no increase but destruction!” [071:028]

I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His
servant and messenger
