CAUSES OF CRIME In this modern era, there are a lot of crimes keep happening around the world.

Crime is the breaking of rules or laws for which some governing authority can ultimately prescribe a conviction. Crimes that we usually found in newspaper are disappearance of children, serial murders, single homicides, serial rapes, extortions, threats, kidnappings and many more. All these crimes need to be control to ensure our country is in a peaceful condition. However, what are the causes of crimes? Firstly, one of the causes of crime is poor parenting. According to the research by Currie and Tekin (April 2006) which using data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, it shows that the child maltreatment are having doubles the probability that an individual engages in many types of crime. According to Bloom (May 2011), parents serve as role models not only through direct interactions with their children but through the examples they set with their attitude and behavior within the family and in the outside world. Parents behaviors and attitudes usually will be imitated by their children. Therefore, family care and love are important to reduce the crimes rate Furthermore, lack of education may lead to the crimes. According to a paper from the University of Western Ontario and the University of California, Los Angeles, people that educated are probably less to involve themselves in crimes. They are more patience and also not likely to take risk to commit a crime. However, over educated in religions may cause the crime indirectly. Religions always believe in God who is guiding us in some ways. According to the article, 22 Ways Religion Promotes Crime by Kalin Ringkvist, this may allow the prayer to commit a crime without guilty as they convince

themselves it was a hint that was given by God. Overall, proper education is needed to control the incidence of crime in the society. In addition, another cause of the crime committed in society is poverty. Studies have shown that people at lower level in socioeconomic commits a crime more compare to those who are rich. According to (Higgs,News24), the extreme differences in perspective on poverty as a root cause amongst shack dwellers show the desperate circumstances in which these people feel that they are and the possible desperate measures they see happening all around them by those who want a better life. The urgent need for service delivery, at the very least, is tangible here. According to (Currie, 115), countries where violent crime is an endemic problem are those in which prosperity, is confined to some sectors of the population and denied to others. Last but not least, media violence can also lead to crime. Some scholars claim that the negative effect of media violence equals that of smoking and lung cancer (Bushman & Anderson, 2001). Mass media always spread bad information such as rob and fighting. Other scholars said that the weak managing of media will lead to aggression of personality. (Olson & Savage, 2004) It can influence ones behavior and they will try to imitate the bad behavior such as stealing. Overall, media should control the information bring out.

In fact, there are some causes which lead to crime committed in society. Government and society should take action as fast as possible to solve this problem.

Some possible solution includes educating criminal, control media, town planning which help poor people to improve lives.
