Limitations: Large Haptic Interface Weight/Size Bandwidth Limitations Interoperability of Haptic Interfaces Instability and Vibration Haptic Data Compression

Large Haptic Interface Weight/Size

One of the major shortcomings of haptic interfaces particularly wearable onesis their large weight and/or size. For instance, the CyberGrasp (Figure 4) with an approximate weight of 400 grams is considered tiring for a user during lengthy simulations.

Bandwidth Limitations
Haptic data is too bulky and data transmission over the Internet is the limited available bandwidth.

Interoperability of Haptic Interfaces

Many haptic devices are very procedure- and application specific and are developed for a specific purpose.

Instability and Vibration

While update rates of 60 Hz are fast enough for graphics rendering, haptic update rates need to be approximately 1,000 Hz. If update rates fall below that value, the haptic device becomes unstable and vibrates when we touch virtually hard surfaces..

Haptic data Compression

The development of a system for the real-time compression of heterogeneous haptic information

Conclusion
Haptic devices must be smaller so that they are lighter, simpler and easier to use. High cost Haptic is the future for online computing and e-commerce, it will enhance the shopper experience and help online shopper to feel the merchandise without leave their home. Large potential for applications in critical fields as well as for leisurely pleasures.
