INSTRUCTIONS 1. Select a problem for practice problem solution creation from one of the assigned chapters in Essential of modern business statistics with Microsoft Excel that is similar to an assigned homework problem, but has an answer in the back of the textbook (Self-Test and Even-Numbered problems have solutions in the back of the textbook). 2. Solve your selected problem using what youve learned to date in this course (most problems will require use of Excel). Be sure to compare your practice problem answer to that in the back of the textbook before posting your solution process. Doing this will help you learn how to complete an associated homework problem and build your problemsolving confidence for similar problems. 3. Post your solution as an attached Excel file in the Practice Problem Creation discussion forum. Include a comment on how you went about solving the problem or specific difficulties that you had or are having in attempting to solve the problem. 4. Discussion is not required for this assignment. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA ASSESSED ITEM This is a credit/no-credit assignment. Full credit will be given for posting your practice problem solution in the appropriate discussion forum. BACKGROUND INFORMATION There are graded individual exercises due in every workshop. Assessment is based on how closely responses conform to the grading rubric, especially in clear and logical steps leading to reasonable answers. You must identify responses to questions rather than simply submitting an Excel worksheet, but both are required. You should submit all individual exercises for a workshop in one Excel workbook with a separate worksheet for each exercise. The individual exercises require each student to submit his or her assignment to the instructor, but students 5/17/12
