Cropredy School really value and support the work of I.M.P.S. Each year our Year 6 pupils learn such vital first aid and lifesaving skills, enabling them to become confident young members of the community who can cope with emergency situations. Year 6 pupils are delighted to see the arrival of the public access AED in their community.

I.M.P.S. is delighted to have played a part in inspiring the community of Cropredy to install a public access AED. Prompt use of an AED following sudden cardiac arrest can increase the chances of survival by 75%.

brilliant initiative for the community. Thanks to the I.M.P.S. trainers for the inspiration and raising awareness of defibrillators in the pupils at the village school. I have enjoyed working with the parish council and the Community heartbeat Trust to complete this project. I would also like to thank the community volunteers for offering their time and support.

Using I.M.P.S. skills We have heard from 2 pupils who recently used skills learnt at I.M.P.S. in an emergency situation. Lily from The Batt School in Witney used back slaps when her younger sister choked. Ben from Fir Tree School in Wallingford was able to give his mum sensible and calm advice about keeping his brothers airway open when they were waiting for an ambulance. Bens brother had a febrile convulsion. We are delighted that I.M.P.S. gave these children the confidence and skills to help in these emergency situations involving their siblings. We are pleased that they both made a full recovery.
The Arrhythmia Alliance has very kindly provided these booklets for every student that has attended an I.M.P.S. visit. The booklets reinforce and build upon the information provided by I.M.P.S. about AEDs Please contact us to request copies for your students if you did not receive them following your visit.
Click here for a short film about how the heart works, what happens in a cardiac emergency and how the AED works to stabilise the heart beat. If you have time before the end of term, please watch this with your class and let us know what you think.
