EMC DMX SYMMETRIX Storage Provisioning This article will show you how to provision EMC DMX Symmetrix storage by order. Lets say the server have 2 HBA (Host Bus Adapter) card.

Note: Always ensure no lock before proceed. symcfg -sid <sid id> list -lockn all

Note: Important, verify the device to make sure the device is not in use. symmaskdb -sid <sid id> list assignment -dev 00CD,00D1,00D5,00D9

HOSTNAME_HBA0 - 10000000c9631a2c Note: Each HBA WWN will be mask to two FA for High Availability and redundancy purpose. They are under the DMX symmetrix 17 rules. symmask -sid <sid id> -wwn 10000000c9631a2c -dir 4B -p 0 add devs 00CD,00D1,00D5,00D9 symmask -sid <sid id> -wwn 10000000c9631a2c -dir 3D -p 0 add devs 00CD,00D1,00D5,00D9

HOSTNAME_HBA1 - 10000000c963abcd symmask -sid <sid id> -wwn 10000000c963abcd -dir 13B -p 0 add devs 00CD,00D1,00D5,00D9 symmask -sid <sid id> -wwn 10000000c963abcd -dir 14D -p 0 add devs 00CD,00D1,00D5,00D9 symmask -sid <sid id> refresh

Verify the devices symdev -sid <sid id> show

To verify whether is there any device present to the wwn Note: In case of re-use HBA card, to avoid device conflict. symmaskdb -sid <sid id> list devs -wwn 10000000c9631a2c symmaskdb -sid <sid id> list devs -wwn 10000000c963abcd
