INTRODUCTION

In this story, you can learn a lot of things. Youre able to relate on something. During the time Im writing about the learnings that I have here in SPCC and also on my OJT (onthe-job-training) the first thing that comes to my mind are the people who will read this. I just want to have my contribution to all the students like me who will also have learnings when they are already second year. Being student is not an easy thing, because you need to be serious for your future. But its also enjoyable because you will learn a lot of things, youll get knowledge and youll know on how to improve yourself. As you read this, Im hoping that in any way you appreciate all the things that I wrote.

CAMILLE B. PAGUIO AT SYSTEMS PLUS COMPUTER COLLEGE

Im Camille B. Paguio from HRM Department. Im a transferee student from DATA College but I stopped for 2 years. Why did I choose SPCC? Not only because of Mrs. Kathleen P. Ocampo whos my former instructor at DATA College. First, I choose this school because the facilities are good and I know that this school can provide me the High Quality Education. Then the first day of school came, Im so excited to meet my new classmates. I didnt feel any nervous that time, Im excited. Im the one of the irregular students, I have my second year subjects and also first year subjects. Its not hard for me to adjust because Im luckily included to those friendly people. How about the instructors? Well, as usual one of my instructors is Mrs. Kathleen P. Ocampo. I also seen Mr. Danganan, Mr. Tan and Mr. Laya whose teaching before at DATA College , I thought theres a reunion. Haha. Time passed by, theres so many things that Ive learned in this school, like I must know how to be professional. Im just enjoying the moment every time that Im inside the school. Suddenly, Mrs. Beaverlyn Yumang the OIC of the HRM Department told me that I have my assessment, I was shocked because Im not aware of it, but I said to myself that I can do it and I know that I will passed them all. My first assessment came which is Commercial Cooking, I belong to the last day of assessment. Thanks God that Im one of the student who passed. Now Im waiting for my next assessment which is F&B Management. I know I will pass it too, I just need to prepare myself and focus on the said assessment. At the second week of October, its already sembreak and Im hoping that there will be no problem to all my subjects so that I will be able to enroll by next semester. But before we will have our sembreak, there will be an exhibit and its time for us to shine as Mrs. Yumang told us. Were able to apply and use what we have learned to show the skills that what we have, to create manpower on that activities so that the first year student would get an idea when they reach second year. As a graduating student, I need to focus myself in my studies to complete the requirements in every subject. To be more responsible to achieve my goals and Im hoping that someday I can use all the things that I have learned at Systems Plus Computer College. And I want to prove that every students in this school are competitive and also has a pride.

To be able to pursue my studies is one of the gift of God for me, Its a big opportunity for me, so I grabbed it. Being irregular student is a big challenge because you have to adjust yourself in many things like on how youll adjust to your new classmatesdifferent characteristics. I found out that its not a big deal if you know to yourself that youre able to adapt things. As a student you must have plans and goals to achieve. Before I entered SPCC, I said to myself that I must be ready to take risk, to be ready for the challenges and be aware for the consequences. Time passed by, when the first semester was ended, I already achieved some of my goals like passing the two assessment which are Commercial Cooking and Food & Beverage Services and to passed all my subjects. Then the second semester came, all the second year students must enrolled first before taking the OJT in hotel. A big problem came to me because I dont know where to look for money so that I can enroll. But God is good all the time, my Tito gave me money. I went to the school immediately to enroll for second semester. Then the following day, some of my classmates asked for endorsement letter and look for the hotel that are willing to help us in our OJT. Hotel Euroasia accepted us. I dedicate all of these achievements to the people who helped me, who are always there behind me, my father, tito and my boyfriend. Most especially to our great God. I know all of these things are from God. Im very blessed because after many hardships I still found myself happy. I cant imagine that I overcome all of the challenges. Maybe this is only part of the plans of God for me. Those things are very unforgettable because I know that would be my stepping stone to my outside world. What I have learned inside the school and also on my OJT would lead me to success. SUCCESS is the key of all efforts. Before you reach success you have to be determined, perseverance, patient and you must believe in yourself. Now, that graduating is coming, Im very excited because finally I had finished my college life. And I really believe that more opportunities and blessings are yet to come.

3 FIRST TIME ON MY OJT (RESTAURANT) June 21,2012: This day I started my OJT on Choco-late de Batirol in Northwalk 2 JASA Road, Dolores CSFP. When I came there Maam Che (cook) told me what to do. First, log at the blue book if what time I arrived. Then she told me to watered the plants outside the resto, after that I get the display (basket, abaca made) to display outside. I also refill the tissue holder and put at the table. When Im already finished cleaning outside, I go inside the kitchen to get the broom to clean or remove the dirt under the tables. I also mop the floor. Suddenly, around 8:30am theres a group of people came at Batirol, I welcome and greet the guests with smile, then I assist them to the table they choose. I gave them the menu and get their orders. I went to the kitchen to give the order to Maam Che so she will prepare the food. I helped her to prepare the food and then when its already cooked I gave it to the guests, after that I just watch them and wait to call my attention. I gave them water even if theyre not asking. After the guests had finished their meals they asked their bill and I told Maam Che to prepare it. Then the guests are left, I bus out all the plates and clean then table. Im the one who washed all the dishes. And when its already 12:00pm, I told Maam Che that its time for me to go at t school and she said to me I need to sign the blue book/Log book. July 10, 2012: I went to my OJT at 8:00am, I helped my co-ojt or classmate Eldie May in cleaning the resto. I started to clean the tables and chairs, after that Maam Che told me to clean the istante as Maam Jane (Supervisor) told her. Suddenly, theres a group of people that came, when I saw them coming or entering the resto, as they open the door I greet them Good Morning and some of them responded and greeted me too. Me and Eldie assisted them, Eldie took their orders after she get their orders of the guests I helped Maam Che to prepare their orders. When the foods are already cooked, we served it to the guests. (The guests are eating). I paused and make an observation. Some of the guest are demanding, ang dami nilang gusto. And of course, you have to give what they want. July 22, 2012: Resume on my OJT.. After the Prelim Exam in school, I go back on my OJT in Choco-lae de Batirol. When Im already there, I talked to my supervisor Ms. Jane to explain why Im not able to go on my OJT. I apologize to her because of the misunderstanding and she listened and accepted my sorry. It feels so good when you dont have any issue or gap between your co-workers. You can easily do your responsibilities, your work. In that experience, I learned that you must understand what attitude those people surrounds you. You must be patient.

FIRST DAY ON MY OJT (HOTEL)

Hotel Euroasia accepted us, the Hr Manager interviewed each one of us & gave us orientation. Our first day was Oct 20, 2012. I Was assigned at the F&B Department, but supposed to be at the Housekeeping, she needs to prioritize those students from Tarlac City because they only need 100 hours so Maam Thelma decided to endorse me to the manager of F&B Dept. Namely Maam Arlene, then she gave me an instructions on what shall I do. She told me that my schedule is from 6:00am to 3:00pm in the afternoon. She also said that I need to wear white polo shirt, black pants, black shoes and hair net. I came at Patio Filipino exactly 6:00am in the morning, I wasnt able to log myself at the logbook because they dont have. I just brought my own time card the following day. I started to clean the bar, washed the used mugs, spoon, and fork at the sink. I also swept and mopped the floor, then after that I cleaned the tables. Then suddenly, theres a group of people came, I think they are small family. Ate Joy (cashier and attendant got their order and I helped her so that next time I know what to do. I felt nervous because Im going to talk in other language, Im afraid because Im not so good in talking in English fluently. But I need to overcome that nervousness and face the guest. That day, I only observed few guest done there. Most of the customer came at breakfast time. Patio Filipino offers Filipino breakfast, American breakfast and Continental. They also offer Filipino dishes like aldereta, Sinigang, Nilaga, and many more. Then at exactly 12:00pm I took my lunch break together with my classmate Gerald and other OJT in Housekeeping Patio Filipino is located at the back of Euroasia, in front of the pool side area. That afternoon some of the guests are having swimming. Then 3:00 oclock came, thats the end of my first day in my OJT. My duty is 6:00am until 3:00pm, I have woke up early in the morning to prepare myself for my OJT. Then travel for 1 hour. Before you reach Hotel Euroasia you need to walk for about 15 to 20 minutes if you dont like to ride a jeepney. That was our routine every day, it is like we just exercising. At exactly 6:00am I was there at the Hotel, fixed and well groomed. I cleaned the bar, displayed different types of alcoholic beverages, swept and mopped the floor. That day, Im with Ate Danica (Cashier and attendant) and Sir Ryan (Supervisor) at the Patio Filipino. While we are waiting for the customer, we are sitting and make some kwentuhan. Then suddenly, around 9:30am theres a group of gentlemen came there. Ate Danica assisted them to their chosen table and get their orders. After that she gave me the order slip so I can give it to Chef Angel. Then I prepared the spoon and fork, glasses with ice and I gave their drinks. Suddenly, one of their friends came, I was the one who took his order, and his order is American breakfast which comprises Omelette, bacon, and toast bread. I gave the order slip to Sir Angel and he asked me if what kind of omelette it is. I couldnt understand so that I told

Ate Danica if what is the matter and they had an argue about it. When the food is already cooked, I served it then the guest told me that it wasnt his order. I was shocked because I know I got his order right. I felt embarrassed at that moment. Then theres one guy who came and seated while Im explaining. I heard him that he wants the food that was given by his friends. Save by the bell! The problem was already solved. I just apologized to the guest even its not my fault and Ate Danica gets his order again. My schedule was changed 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. 7:50 I was there already, I did the things that should be done. The surroundings at the outside area of the hotel was so quiet, because according to Sir Ryan only in the evening the guest visit the restaurant. That day only guests dine at the Patio Filipino then I met a little girl namely Carla a 4 yrs old Fil-Am. She took her breakfast there together with her Aunt. Carla is hard to convince to eat, shes very stubborn, according to her Aunt she always wants to play. Then I talked to her. I said to her that when she finish her meal we will play and she smiled at me. Then Carla was convinced on what I have said and finished her breakfast since then, Carla and I became friends until I also met her mother. Her mother is from Cebu and her dad is already old American. Then Carla and her Family dine again at the Patio Filipino, that little girl always order Filipino breakfast which is Tocino and steamed Rice and scrambled egg. I thought shes pure Filipino because shes not talking in English language. Mother of Carla gave me chocolate, she told me that day they will check out. Having a 4 yr old friend while Im having up my OJT at the Euroasia is unforgettable, I considered it as a very nice experience during my OJT in F&B department at the Hotel Euroasia. Because I showed hospitable we are. After one week, I had finished my tine in the F&B Dept. I informed Maam Arlene (F&B Manager) that I will now take my OJT at the housekeeping Department, I thank her for accommodating me at the F&B Dept. I also informed Maam Leegie (H.R Manager) that Ill start my OJT in Housekeeping, then she endorsed me to Maam Thelma (HR Supervisor) that I will start at the housekeeping OJT. Maam Thelma gave me an orientation & rules about housekeeping. Then some of my co.OJT including my classmate Gerald showed me how to make up a bed, clean the bathroom, dust the furniture and many more. That day Maam Thelma divided us on what we are going to clean. Me & Paula was assigned to sweep & mop the second floor of the hotel. Paula was the one who swept & Im the one who mopped the floor. After we cleaned we rest for a while, and then Maam Thelma called us, she told us that theres a check-out at the room 204 then Paula & I went to the storage room to get the things that were going to clean. I cleaned the bathroom & Paula swept & mopped the floor and she also make up the bed. After I cleaned the CR, dusted the furniture & spray the room with air freshener. It took 20-40 minutes. When we cleaned a room. That was the scenario every-day cleaning rooms, check-out room Ive learned a lot in my OJT on how to properly clean a room, and make-up a bed and if how to work as room attendant in a

hotel. November 16, 2012 is my last day at Euroasia. I was so excited because I will just wait for how many hours to get my CERTIFICATE. That day I did my best because that was the last day that I would stay at the Euroasia. After one month, I completed 270 hrs this is one of my achievement in my college life. But before I achieved this. I had to face many challenges completing 270hrs is not just a joke. Every day you have to wake-up early, look for the money that will use to get there at clark & to buy food. I said to myself that if I will overcome those struggles Im not able to accomplished this through the helped of Hotel Euroasia I finished my OJT and I know it is all because of God that is always there to help me. I learned a lot of things during my OJT. I learned how to be patient have perseverance & to be confident. PATIENT to the people surrounds me. PERSEVERANCE for all the things that I really need to be done. CONFIDENCE to believe in myself that I can do everything. I also learned things that can help me improve my skills and that can help me on my studies and Finally my CERTIFICATE is on my hands already.

HRM CHRISTMAS PARTY

We had so much fun during our Christmas party that was held at the Water Splash Resort in Macabakle Dolores. Thats private resort was only exclusive for us. All the student was there and Maam Bevs, Maam Kath, Maam joy, Maam Lim and Sir Vic are also there and joined us. The officers prepared many games like eating banana, trip to Jerusalem & many more. Theres also singing contest. Most unforgettable moment us Chibugan Time, that was our favorite part in our Christmas Party. We also took a lot pictures even stolen shot. We just enjoyed that & forgot first our schooling. We all stayed there from 8:00 am until 5:00pm other student choose to stay there until morning because they want to have their bonding. That was the happiest Christmas Party that I ever had during my College Life.

There was a time the manager in Choco-late de Batirol approached me and thought me the correct way in serving the food order. That time, Im the only OJT whose on duty, it was around 8:00 oclock in the evening. Then suddenly, the guest came, they get inside then I assisted them on the table they choose. They looked at the menu, they ordered and then I got their orders. I brought the order slip at the kitchen, I prepared the things that the guest would use. After 20 minutes the food is already cooked, When Im getting the food at the table sir John said to me that I need to put first all the plates, spoon, fork, etc. at table before the foods, Then I realized that He is correct. I just said sorry to him, and I know what to do next time. Ive learned also, you must put in your mind all the instructions that the superior gave to you to avoid the misunderstanding. The following they. I followed if what Sir John (Manager) told me. In every correction, you need to accept it because it can help you on how to improve yourself and it is really important in life. Some people say, Expect the unexpected. When I started my OJT in Choco-late de Batirol Ms. Jane ( Supervisor) get my schedule she told me that I belong to the day shift, which is 8:00am to 4:00pm, but Im only available for 8:00am to 12:00pm because I have my class at 1:00 oclock in the afternoon. Every day that was the schedule there. When the month of September cam, I was shocked when I saw the schedule, Im at the NIGHTSHIFT. I got mad because all O know is Im only for the Dayshift. But I need to follow the schedule I need to accept it. Then until now. I still belong to the night shift, Twice or 3 times a week I go to my OJT after class. I will start at 7:00pm until will close. And at the same time, I enjoyed the moment when Im in duty.

I only have to weeks to finish my OJT. Mrs Beaverly Yumang told us that at the end of September we must have our certificate in our OJT I (Restaurant). I was worried because I still have 52 hours to finish my OJT, but I said to myself that I need to be positive. I set my goal that before month of September will end. Ill make sure that I already have my certificate, I must focus on it, because OJT is one of the requirements in school because it is also included in the curriculum in Hotel and Restaurant Management. When I started my OJT, there are a lot of things that I cant do anymore. Its given that I need to sacrifice just to finish this. And I need to be thankful to the manager of Choco-late de Batirol because they gave us the chance to have our OJT in their Restaurant.
