What is Assessment Testing For?

All Rio Hondo students new to the college system must take the Assessment Test to be placed into English, Math, and Reading Classes. There is no need to schedule an appointment for Assessment testing. We offer assessment testing on a walk-in basis. Notice: Do not take an assessment test if you are ill prepared, not feeling well, or there is any reason that your performance will not be your best. Your performance on the assessment determines the courses you will be eligible to take at Rio Hondo College. If you are transferring to Rio Hondo from another college and/or have prior college experience, you should schedule an appointment with a counselor at the Rio Hondo Counseling & Student Development office in room SS104 to see if you need Assessment testing. You may also call them on Monday-Thursday to schedule an appointment with a counselor (to discuss transcripts) at (562) 908 -3410. On Fridays they close at 3 p.m. Note: Only call the Counseling Department to schedule an appointment with a counselor. The assessment center will be closed NOVEMBER 12, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 2012. we APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.

New Student (not included High School students) who attend an Orientation between November 1st - December 14 will receive a "priority registration" date for the Spring Semester 2013 on Monday, January 7, 2013.
