Goodmorning judges , participants, teachers and all members of the audience welcome to the MN Srinivas Declamation competition, 2012.

MN Srinivas was the doyen of Indian sociology. He has inspired generations of young students , researchers and teachers alike for his shear scholarship. He has been indias face in International Sociology . In Delhi university since the inception of the undergraduate programme in sociology it has been a tradition to organize a declamation competition named after him. In a way its also a homage and a pledge by the young entered into the world of sociology to the great scholar. Today our principal DR HEMALATTA REDDY is with us. Maam we request you to light the inaugural lamp and say a few words Thank you maam The topic for the declamation today is From Neeldarpan to satanic verseswhere is CENSORSHIP heading today? I will now aquaint you with the rules of this competiton Each participant will be given 3 minutes for their declamation followed by a minute of interjections/ responses from the other participants A bell will be rung at the end of 3 minutes and if participents exceed this limit the judges will mark them positively or negatively at their discreation. Please note No cross questioning will be allowed during the time alloted for interjections and at the end a bell will be rung after which no questions or responses will be entertained. The judges gracing the event today areDR RANJEETA DUTTA : she teaches at the department of history and culture in Jamia Mila Islamia University, New Delhi. She specialises in medival Indian history and has written as well as published in well known books and journals. We are deeply honoured to have her admists us

Our second judge is DR NAMITA PANDEY- she teaches at the department of political science in SRI Venkateswara college. She has written and has been published in various journals and books. Welcome maam Finally id like to introduce MR DEBADITYA BHATTACHARYA- he teaches at the department of English in SRI Venkateswara college. His area of interest is contemporary literary theory. He writes too and has been published in books, magazines and journals. We thank the judges for taking the time out to come and judge todays declamation.
