There has never been a photolamp with such fea. tures and benefits. Flashcube is designed to fit the

than ever before. Now you can get the pictures ihat
used to get away.

Syivania's Blue Dot, the original Blue Dot in the industry, is a guarantee of quality. The dot is actually a chemical-an ultra'sensitive material inside the llashbulb that remains blue as long as the bulb is operational; turns pink i{ there's a defect. There's a special kind of confidence that goes with using Sylvania tlashbulbs. The Blue Dot tells you that the bulb is good-before you use it. Therefore, no \a,asted film.
Blue Dot-built-in bulb tester. Tough, color-corrected salety coating contains MM59 to neutralize lacquer odor.

High Boiivian tin content in base-solder resists corrosion, eliminates burnishing or moistening-assures positive electrical contact.

TIM
E IN MILLISECONDS
Graphlike diagrams next to the flashbulbs tell at a glance speciJic flashbulbs in terms of light intensity (Lumens):
Each chart shows simple plottings of the intensjty oJ {lash for both clear and blue bulbs. The amount of intensity is measured in "Millions of Lumens." The time interval is in "Milliseconds" (a millisecond is 1 / 1000th oJ a second).
Nole: Flashcubes are not measured in Lumens, but in a unit of light measurement called B.C.P.S. which stands for BEAM CANDLE POWER SECONDS. When' ever a reflector is used as an integral part of a lamp, it is more meaningful and accurate to rate it in B.C.P.S. than Lumens. A lumen unit is used to describe a light source where light is going olf in all directions. ln the Flashcube, where the
retlector is part ot the light source and the light is directional, we are only interested in the actual candle power reaching the subject. Hence, B.C.P.S.Beam Candle Power Seconds. Clear or blue, all Sylvania llashbulbs are coated with a thin, tough Jilm ol Iacquer
sylvania
as a protection against breaking or shattering. For clear bulbs, the coating is optically clear, will not affect color balance even when used with the most critical color lilms for artificial light. On Sylvania blue {lashbulbs, the coating is carefully color corrected and balanced under the most rigid laboratory conditions. This provides maximum Jidelity when used with daylight color tilms. When used with black and white films the coating has little or no effect on the exposure due to the characteristics in latitude of the film itself.

SYLVANIA PROJECTOR LAMPS: Quality controt, every step of the way, assures you a SyJvania pro jector lamp is a well.made lamp. . . carefullv in. Separate catalog sections detail ihe individual features of the different types of Sylvania lamps:
TR U-FOCUS
QUARTZ IODINE

THE CERAMIC BLUE TOP; Sylvania's {amous Ceramic Blue Top is a flint-hard, opaque outer skin, baked-in (not just painted on) to actually become a part of the glass. The blue top decreases light spillover. The blue top increases Iamp efficiency by shielding the lamp, boosts lamp life by dissipating heat more rapidly than ordinary coatings.
TI
ASA CODES: Every Sylvania projector lamp is coded with three letters assigned by the American Standards Association. This combination of Ietters refers
DOUBLE BRANDING: On some Sylvania Blue Top projector lamps, you will find "double branding"that is, tryo ASA codes. This means the lamp will work jn projectors calling for either lamp type. Even if the old lamp was a clear top, your customer should not be concerned if he receives a double-branded Sylvania Blue Top proiector lamp as a replacement. The Sylvania Blue Top will work just as efficiently, if not more so.
RATED VOLTAGE; Unless otherwise noted, all Sytvania projector lamps are rated at 120 volts. A lamp wjth a rated ljie oI 25 hours will operate for only
more light output and at a color temperature about 50'K higher. At lower voltages, lamp life increases, but brightness and color temperature decrease. IMPORTANT: A projector's cooling system is designed to operate efficiently only with specitic lamp
wattages. Lamps of higher wattage than recommended will not cool adequately, may damage opiical system, motor and,/or film.

tru-beam
Sylvania's revolutionary Dichroic Tru-Beam Projector Lamps are available in two versions-DNE and the low-voltage Super Q DNF. They were developed by Sylvania for Bmm and Super-8 Movie Projectors. Their features include: Dichroic Tru-Beam Reflector for greater efficiency, vented 2-pin base and snap loc
socket for perfect alignment and cooler operation, collecting grid to reduce lamp blackening and light loss. Ballast lilament insures longer life. The Super Q Tru-Beam DNF uses quartz iodine principle to give longer life, constant light output and true color renditjon for the life o1 lamp.
DNF
tru-flector
Again leading the industry, Sylvania designed the TRU-FLECTOR projector lamp. Compact, powerful and with a sealed-in silver condensing reflector, this lamp simplifies the optical systems of 8mm movie projectors by eliminating the need lor external re. flectors and condensing lenses. ln addition to the snap-in base for easy prefocusing alignment, TRU' lamp efficiency of over 300 percent! TRU FLECTOR in an 8mm projector provides the same screen brightness as a much larger 5oo-watt lamp in conventional optical systems.) Furthermore,

recent modifications, utilizing "internal ballast con struction," offer two-part filaments-Jar more rugged and lasting. The result: a lamp that actually "lets you know" before it burns out (by dimming) that it is approaching the end of its useful, rated life!

Just as the projector is a delicate, precjsion instru ment, so is its "heart"-the projector lamp. And, just as the projector may lail to operate when abused, so may a bulb "blow" or refuse to work
any longer. Sylvania's engineers examine every Iamp returned for repiacement and can determine by inspection why a projector lamp {ailed. Lamps that failed be cause of manufacturing flaws are considered valid detectives entitled to replacement under Sylvanja's
projector lamp guarantee. Lamps whose {ailure re. sulted only from reaching the end of a normal burn, ing life* are classified as invalid delectives and
obviously cannot be replaced. Pictured and described below are two basic types of valid delectives, as well as four examples of invalid delectives which show tell tale signs of normal life.
