Assessment of air interface technology

1X proven in the field to deliver high capacity voice and data 450MHz operators see 20-26 Primary Erlang per sector/carrier on average; peaks over 30 Primary Erlang; data throughput 110-150 Kbps. Excellent propagation and in-building penetration. High-end voice users and expansion to mass market. EV-DO increase in spectral efficiency, cost reduction for data applications with low CAPEX/OPEX. IP centric solution.Truly broadband experience for end-users. Key technology to serve HSDe in urban markets and provide DSL-like residential service in remote areas. DV Rev C insufficient performance improvement, skipped. DV Rev D several important features (e.g MEID), but DV HSPD and VoIP-lower capacity and higher CAPEX/OPEX due to 1X user interference. May require additional carrier. DO Rev A - best HSPD performance including Real-time applications (VoIP). Lower CAPEX and OPEX. DO carrier conversion to DO Rev A. DO Rev A long term 1X circuit switched voice replacement with VoIP 16% capacity increase from 1X Erl to Do Rev A VoIP Erl (35 Erl)

CDMA2000 - 450MHz and 2100MHz

CDMA2000 at 450MHz remains the most cost effective way to provide 3G throughout Russias regions 5MHz at 450MHz is significant asset 3 carriers (e.g. 1X+1X+DO) will provide enough capacity for most Russian cities and regions but. A few top metropolitan areas (Moscow, St.Petersburg,) with high concentration of enterprise, high-end and mass market segments may see 5MHz saturation by the end of 2006. Technical in-band capacity increase options Cell Split, SMV, TD/IA, BLAST, VoIP over DO Rev A , Dynamic Ocelot The out-of-band capacity increase option- additional spectrum in 2100MHz - 850MHz and 1900MHz are N/A due to European frequency regulations - CDMA2000 proven to co-exist with UMTS in the same band, including 2100MHz -2100MHz overlay in top urban areas only with dual-band 450/2100MHz networks and terminals starting 2006.

Lucent support of CDMA2000 at 2100MHz

Successfully participated in China 2100MHz MII lab and customer field trial of 1X and EV-DO - Supplied Flexent CDMA/DO system.Hundreds of call processing, standard compliance and RF tests Co-authored joint MII and Lucent UMTS/CDMA co-existence study at 2100MHz from both CDMA and UMTS perspective - cdma2000 BS transmitter to UMTS UE receiver interference - UMTS BS transmitter to cdma2000 Mobile Station MS receiver interference - cdma2000 MS transmitter to UMTS BS receiver interference - UMTS UE transmitter to cdma2000 BS receiver interference
