MEET MNCRs VICE CHAIR SOUTH CANDIDATE, SPENCER JOHNSON

On March 27th, 2013 it was announced that Spencer Johnson will be the Team Hasek nominee to fill the capacity of Vice-Chair South of Minnesota College Republicans. Spencer is a junior at Minnesota State University - Mankato and is double majoring in Accounting and Finance with a minor in Economics. He has served as Chairman of College Republicans at Mankato State and previously on their student government. Spencer is a native of Estherville, Iowa, a small town just south of the Minnesota border. His first political memories are from the discussions and wisdom he soaked up from his parents. While his views are different from his theirs, he found those discussions and arguments enlightening. Spencer believes that conservative principles, if implemented correctly, can have positive impacts on peoples lives such as less government intervention in nearly every part of life. Spencer is fiscally conservative and socially moderate. When asked about what his favorite College Republican accomplishment, he notes all of the work he put in to Dave Kruses campaign in 2010. While he was just a freshman, older College Republicans like Sean Paskach and David Tapper showed how much time and commitment was necessary to have a chance in getting a candidate elected. Some of Spencers favorite memories from College Republicans include attending the CPAC conference in 2011 and 2012. He plans on attending in 2014. If elected as Vice-Chair South, Spencer believes he can contribute his personal skills and ability to work with people to the organization. These skills are valuable because he will be in a position to coordinate with local chapters in the South region. In his free time, Spencer enjoys hanging out with his friends, reading, and watching his favorite television shows.
