BEFORE YOU BEGIN

There are four (4) action items which must be verified prior to installation. If the answer to any of the questions below is NO, do not proceed with the installation. You must first change your computer environment so that all four (4) questions have positive answers.

Failure to verify any of these questions will result in an unstable installation.

1. Administrator Privileges
Do you have full Administrator privileges for the installation machine? These include READ, WRITE and DELETE or MODIFY rights.

2. DirectX v6.0 or Greater

Do you have DirectX version 6 or greater installed?

3. Microsoft Internet Explorer v6.0 or Greater

Do you have Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or greater installed? This feature is required for the reports generated by Nozzle/PRO.

4. Virus Scan Software

Virus scan software MUST be turned off during the PRG software installation.

If the answer to all four (4) questions is YES, you may begin installation.

Administrator Privileges When installing or uninstalling this product on operating systems that provide user privileges, you must be logged on with Administrator rights. This is necessary for registry updates. You must have Administrator privileges to install the program. The Windows ID used to install the program and generate the User ID will be the only user able to access FE/Pipe.

DirectX v6.0 or Greater PRG Software uses DirectX graphics. This requires that the programs be installed into a directory without any spaces or non-standard characters. An example of a good installation path is the default directory C:\PRGSoft_2005 and an example of a bad installation path is C:\Program Files\PRGSoft_2007

Microsoft Internet Explorer v6.0 or Greater Paulin Research Group software requires software libraries (DLLs) that are delivered with Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 6.0 or greater. As such, make sure IE6.0 or later is installed on your computer before you install Paulin Research Group software. You do not need to change your default Web browser if it is currently something other than Internet Explorer. Please refer to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx for more information regarding Internet Explorer.

Virus Scan Software We strongly recommend that in order to avoid potential installation problems; you should temporarily disable antivirus and antispyware scanners. Once PRG Software is installed, you should re-enable these programs.

Miscellaneous Items On some systems, successful installation may require that you update your system with the latest Windows operating system DLLs. We recommend that you update your system periodically, particularly if you experience problems using Windows-specific functionality. You may be requested to reboot your system during the installation process. Although you have the option of rebooting at a later time, we recommend that you allow the installation program to reboot your system if and when you are prompted. Should your system be rebooted during the installation process, you MUST log back in after the reboot to the same account and with the same Administrative rights used for the installation process so it can complete properly. The product-level ReadMe document contains important information about this product that may not be in the printed or on-line documentation. During installation, this document is saved in this product's root folder by default. You must close any programs or processes that are running before you start the installation program for this product.

Verify that any anti-virus and anti-spyware software has been temporarily disabled. For more detailed information regarding the preparation of your computer for installation, please see the Before You Begin section of the documentation. Once the PRG Software is installed, you should re-enable these programs.

Many security programs like Norton Antivirus and McAfee prevent VB scripts from running. An example error message:

www.cadfamily.com EMail:cadserv21@hotmail.com PAULIN RESEARCH GROUP The document is for study only,if tort to your rights, please inform us,we will delete

If this is the case you will need to manually allow the script to run or abort the installation. Then begin a new installation with the antivirus turned off. After you install is complete and security setup then you can restart your antivirus program. The setup program begins installing the product. After the product files have been installed, the installation program makes some necessary setup initialization including some changes to the registry and removes any temporary installation files before finishing. This may take several minutes. Select the Default Units (English or SI) that you will primarily use when designing your models . Please note that the Utilities section will allow you to change your units at any time after installation.

PRG recommends that you select Yes to install the Desktop icons and shortcuts. Please note that all icons will be installed, regardless of which software packages have been purchased. Once installation is complete, you can delete any icons or shortcuts that are not needed.

The next prompt asks if you would like to review the software licensing instructions now. This information details the authorization procedures for both the single-user licenses (Standard and Internet Methods) and for the network installations. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required for viewing of this PDF file.

Whether you select Yes or No to the Display Licensing prompt, you will next be notified that the software has been installed successfully. It is our recommendation that you de-select the Continue with software registration... option and instead start the authorization procedure by starting the program purchased (for example, Nozzle/PRO or Axi/PRO) and following the steps as outlined in the Authorization Procedures section.

When this step is complete, the installation program may request that your machine be rebooted in order to successfully complete. Although you have the option of rebooting at a later time, if prompted to do so, it is recommended to let the installation program reboot.

AUTHORIZATION INSTRUCTIONS INTERNET AUTHORIZATION

INTERNET AUTHORIZATION The Internet Method will allow you to load the software on up to three machines and share authorization between the three by using the Internet to transfer the license - Logging In and Logging Out. Any end user that will need access to the program must have Administrator Privileges to successfully validate and use the program. If you are an IT Administrator loading and authorizing the software for an end user, make certain that you have logged on as the end user with full Administrator Privileges. The Windows ID login used to install the software is the only user who will have access to the program. If you are unable to use the Internet Method for authorization, then you MUST use the Standard Authorization method. An inability to use the Internet Method does NOT grant a client to more than one site code. To setup your Internet Security Authorization choose either of these two methods. 1) Start the program for which you received authorization. (If you have purchased FE/Pipe, then we suggest that you start the Nozzle/PRO program to initiate authorization as Nozzle/PRO verifies security upon startup, whereby FE/Pipe, because it shares an interface with BOS Fluids, does not verify security until a job has begun. Navigate to the installation directory and Select Start_Secure.EXE

2)

Which ever method you choose, the following screen will appear, notifying you that you are currently running in demo mode:

Select Yes to continue the authorization process.

To authorize over the Internet, select YES.

The Security Startup Info screen will appear, listing your User Name, UserID, Computer Name, and ComputerID, as well as the installation directory for the software. This screen appears for information purposes only.

The PRG User Validation screen will appear next:

Enter the Serial Number (License Number) on the first line, and the Password on the second line. You can use the up and down arrow keys to move from one cell to another.

www.cadfamily.com EMail:cadserv21@hotmail.com PAULIN RESEARCH GROUP The document is for study only,if tort to your rights, please inform us,we will delete

If you dont know your serial number & password, contact register@paulin.com and ask for your data. You will need to provide your name, your company name, and a valid e-mail address in order for us to search our records. Serial numbers and passwords will only be released to registered users of the software. Once you have the data entered, press the F1 key. You have completed all of the steps necessary to authorize the software over the Internet and will be dropped back into the program for which you are authorized. Your software is installed and authorized and you are now ready to run the software. If you see a Demo License error message, then either the serial number or password has been entered incorrectly, or your account was not properly initialized. If after verifying that the serial number & password that you have entered are correct, contact register@paulin.com to verify your account details. (Please see the Troubleshooting section on the next page to see other common authorization errors).

SHARING THE SITE CODE WITH OTHER MACHINES If you are able to use the Internet Method to authorize the software, then you will also have the ability to share the site code with up to two (2) additional machines. In this manner, each license purchased will allow up to three (3) different users to access the software, but with only one concurrent user. Example: UserA has successfully downloaded a site code from the Internet, using the serial number and password issued by PRG. UserB now wants to use the software. Before UserB can download the site code, UserA will FIRST have to return authorization back to the Internet. In order to do this, User A will need to run the Release Internet Authorization utility. Directions can be found After the license is released User B can use the same serial number and password to download the site code from the Internet.

INTERNET AUTHORIZATION - TROUBLESHOOTING The following is a short list of most common errors seen:

License Failure - The license is currently in use by another user. Before you can download authorization, the current must first logout using the Release Internet Authorization utility. Sometimes this error message will appear when there are no additional users accessing the software. When authorizing over the Internet, the online registration database is still recording userID and computerID information. If you have checked out a site code and then made changes to your computer such as a new motherboard or upgraded operating system, then your userID and computerID will change and will no longer match the values registered at the database. The site code will have become trapped on your computer. Always logout out of the software before making changes to your machine.

Incoming Routes Limit - If you are getting this message, then your available spaces for registered users is full. Each license of the software allows up to three different users to share authorization and there is no room to add another user. Contact register@paulin.com if space needs to be cleared out.

AUTHORIZATION INSTRUCTIONS STANDARD AUTHORIZATION

STANDARD AUTHORIZATION
Standard Authorization locks the program license to only one machine. Each authorized machine requires a separate purchased program license to validate the security. One license equals one site code. If you are unable to user the Internet Authorization Method, then you must use the Standard Authorization. To setup your Standard Security Authorization. 1) Determine your userID and computerID which are required variables needed to generate a manual site code. Navigate to the program installation directory. Select username.EXE and run the executable. OR Open the main screen of either FE/Pipe, Nozzle/PRO, Axi/PRO or Mat/PRO. Under the Tools section of the main taskbar, select What is my User ID and Computer ID.

2)

The following User Information screen will appear:

3) 4)

Select OK Navigate to the installation directory and copy the Username.BIN file and paste into an email OR simply provide a screen shot of the above screen. Send the email with Username.BIN file or screen shot to: register@paulin.com

5)

Paulin Research will return a site code uniquely generated from your Username.BIN (screens shot) information. The site code will only work on the machine and UserID that generated this data. A reminder: Any end user that will need access to the program must have Administrator Privileges to successfully validate and use the program. If you are an IT Administrator loading and authorizing the software for an end user, make certain that you have logged on as the end user with full Administrator Privileges. The Windows ID login used to install the software is the only user who will have access to the program.

After you receive your site code: 1) Start the program for which you received authorization. An Authorization screen will appear informing you that you are NOT authorized to run this program. Select YES to continue with authorization.

2)

3)

Select NO to Internet Authorization.

4)

Security Authorization will appear to verify that you have already received your site codes from PRG. If you have NOT yet received these codes, NO and follow the prompts to exit the program. You will have the ability to start the program, however, it will be in demo mode only.

5)

The Security Startup Info screen will appear again, listing your IDs, username, computer name, as well as installation directory for the software. This screen appears for information purposes only. Select OK to continue.

7)

Enter in all four (4) values of your site code where each value is separated only by a space.

Enter all values on ONE line. Do not break up the code on multiple lines. Once you have the site code entered, hit the F1 key.

8)

The PRG Security Center banner will appear and your license is now authorized.

If you have entered a wrong site code (transposed numbers, for example), the following message will appear, giving you another opportunity to enter the correct values:

SINGLE-USER VERSION CHECKLIST

1. 2. 3. Installation and working folders must NOT have spaces in the path name. You must have an active Internet connection to use the serial number and password to trade site codes between machines. Site codes will only work on the machines and users for which the site code was originally requested. If an administrator is registering the software, he/she should be logged on as the user and NOT as the administrator. If you change some components of your machine (new hard drive, new operating system) then your userID / computerID values will most likely change as well. If you are using the Internet to authorize the software, first logout before making any upgrades to your machine. Once your new system is in place, download the site code again so that it doesnt become trapped on your old set-up.

AUTHORIZATION INSTRUCTIONS NETWORK AUTHORIZATION

AUTHORIZING THE SOFTWARE NETWORK LICENSES

A network version of PRG Software has the following characteristics: 1. The software MUST be loaded on a shared network folder, preferably on a server separate from the users PCs. The PRG network installation does not work with Distributed File System networks or any other system where the volume ID of the drive changes depending on who is accessing the drive.

2.

Although many users will have access to the program, simultaneous use is limited to the number of licenses that have been purchased. At present, each network license is based on a 1-seat 25-user basis. The numbers of licenses owned represent the number seats, i.e. the number of simultaneous users. 1-seat 25-users: 2-seat 50-users: 3-seat 75-users: Up to 25 different users can access the software, but only ONE at a time Up to 50 different users can access the software, but only TWO at a time Up to 75 different users can access the software, but only THREE at a time....

3. 4.

A network administrator must be available to maintain the account. A separate installation is required for each different network program purchased. For example, if a client has purchased a 2seat Nozzle/PRO network license and a 1-seat FE/Pipe network license, they will be required to install and authorize the software twice. However, if the client has purchased a 2-seat Nozzle/PRO network license, the software will only need to be installed once.

NETWORK VERSIONS REQUIRE:

Basic requirements for the network installation: 1. All users must have read/write/create access to all the files in the installation subdirectory on the server, including the secure.key file. (Exceptions include the username.TXT file and program executables). The server drive ID cannot change. If the server drive ID changes, then the software must be re-installed. The encryption algorithm uses the server drive ID. This number must be available to the OS via the Windows API procedure Get Volume Information. The startup programs for the different software packages are: FE/Pipe: prgmaps.exe BOS Fluids: prgmaps.exe Nozzle/PRO: startNP.exe Axi/PRO: startAXI.exe Mesh/PRO: MeshPRO_2005.exe Mat/PRO: startMAT.exe Splash: splash.exe The network administrator must collect the username/computername pairs for all potential users (limited to 25 per license) that will access the program(s). These pairs will be entered into an ASCII file in the installation subdirectory on the server. The network administrator can change this file at any time.

INSTALLING A NETWORK VERSION

Follow these steps to install your network version of the PRG software product(s). 1. First, decide which PRG products should be available in a network format. Most companies will have a need for more simultaneous use of Nozzle/PRO or Mat/PRO than for FE/Pipe. Keep in mind that for each license purchased, the network will be set up to accommodate 1-seat and 25-users. Each license of FE/Pipe includes Nozzle/PRO, Axi/PRO, Mat/PRO and Mesh/PRO as specialized templates. The activated user can access any of these programs; HOWEVER, one user cannot access FE/Pipe, another access Nozzle/PRO and a third access Axi/PRO simultaneously, UNLESS the network installation is set-up for 3 simultaneous users. The network delivery version is no different from the standard demonstration version of the program delivered on all CDs. Be certain that read/write access is available for the Windows folder on the machine used for the installation. The Microsoft setup.exe program uses this folder to keep some temporary files.

2.

Install the software on the server. You will have been forwarded a CD with the delivery software or you may download the software directly from the PRG website: www.paulin.com Follow the prompts to select your installation drive and directory name. There can be no spaces in either the directory name, or the path: C:\Program Files\PRGSOFT not valid C:\Programs\PRGSOFT valid

3.

Request the secure.key and _segmetric3.bin files. Run the program netdrive.exe from the DOS command prompt to determine the installation drive ID of the server. Include the root path in the program invocation, i.e. C:\PRGSOFT_2007>netdrive c:\

A message box will appear that will give the network installation drive ID. An example is shown below:

www.cadfamily.com EMail:cadserv21@hotmail.com PAULIN RESEARCH GROUP The document is for study only,if tort to your rights, please inform us,we will delete

The ID number, (in this example, 1849384408), must be returned to Paulin Research Group along with any other network set-up parameters, such as number of network installations needed and distribution of licenses. If the ID number contains a negative sign (-) before the ID number, this value MUST be included or the secure.key file that is generated will not work. For this reason, we highly suggest that a screen shot of the drive ID be forwarded to register@paulin.com. PRG will take the drive ID and will generate the secure.key and _segmetric3.bin files that will be returned via email. Place these two files in the installation directory. 4. Create the username.TXT file. Collect from each user their login username and computername. The base security system used at PRG identifies users based on these two variables. Users may determine their own username and computername by running the program username.EXE which can be found in the installation directory. A message box will appear with the required information:

We recommend providing a screen capture of this message box to the network administrator who will be in charge of creating the username.TXT file. A username.bin file containing this information will be generated each time username.EXE is run. This file is continually overwritten, so rename as a unique filename if planning on saving this data. Create an ASCII text file named username.TXT in the installation directory. Enter the username and computername for each of your users. Enter the username followed by the computername. Do not include any spaces in either the username or computername. As an example, in the User Information screen above, the username is Mary Jane, so the entry in the username.TXT file will be: MaryJane Any number of spaces can separate the names, although we do recommend that a carriage return <ENTER> be at the end of each line.

An example username.TXT file is shown below: Administrator HP-0013A MaryJane MJ PipeStress HP-0013C If the number of entries in the username.TXT file exceeds the number of users allowed by the network secure.key file, the users at the end of the list will be denied. For example, if a client has a 1-seat 25-user network license and the username.TXT file has 30 entries, the last five users listed will not be allowed access.

5.

Create shortcuts for the users. Each user should have a shortcut on their desktop for each of the programs that they are eligible to run. Shortcuts should reference a mapped drive. FE/Pipe: prgmaps.exe startNP.exe startAXI.exe startMAT.exe MeshPRO_2005.exe PlasPLOT.exe StressPLOT.exe prgmaps.exe splash.exe startNP.exe StressPLOT.exe startAXI.exe StressPLOT.exe startMAT.exe MeshPRO_2005.exe

To LOG ON to the network, a user needs to only start one of the authorized software programs. To LOG OUT of the network, a user simply needs to exit from the program. The hidden option on the Taskbar can sometimes hide the fact that a user is still logged onto the software.

MAINTAINING A NETWORK VERSION

Inevitably, users will be logged onto the system when other users want to run the software. When this happens, the following message will appear for the user attempting to log on:

NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR UTILITIES

If users who are logged ON do not get properly logged OUT when they exit the software, the security system will register that a license is in use when in fact, it is available. Instances that can cause this situation are: System Crashes Network Connection Gets Dropped Network Drive is Reset When this happens, the network administrator can run netreset.EXE from the installation directory on the server machine. This program will reset the security system, logging out all users. Additionally, if a user suspects that he/she may be logged in and wants to be certain to log OUT of the system, the logout.EXE program can be run from the users machine to log OUT only that particular user. The netuse.TXT file contains each login to the system. This is an ASCII text file that contains the time of login and the username/computername combination. Only successful logins are recorded.

NETWORK VERSION CHECKLIST

1. 2. The username.TXT file must reside in the application directory on the server. There should not be any spaces in either the username or computername. The only spaces should be to separate the username from the computername on a single line. If either name has spaces in it, eliminate them when entering into the username.TXT file. Be certain to include all of your shortcuts and make certain that they are pointing to the correct executable. The users will need read/write/create privileges to all files in the installation directory. The secure.key file and the _segmentric3.bin file must be copied into the installation directory. Secure.key files that are saved on the same drive MUST be renamed so as to not conflict with the file in use. Only those software packages that are authorized for use will run. All other programs will only start in DEMO mode and results obtained from DEMO mode should not be used. Verify the network drive ID before forwarding on to PRG. Inverted numbers or a missing or added (-) will result in a secure.key file that does not work with the server. Installation and working folders must NOT have spaces in the path name. PRG Network Installation does not work with Distributed File System networks or any other system where the volume ID of the drive changes depending on who is accessing the drive.

3. 4. 5.

6.

7.

8. 9.
