Stage 1- Desired Results

Established Goals:

Student will be able to -sort common words into different categories based on reading their definition or looking at a pictures of them -recognize the category of a word when they see it -explain the differences of the words in the different categories

Stage 2- Assessment Evidence

Performance Tasks: I will use Quizlet on the iPad to make notecards with words on some, definitions on some, and pictures on some. They will be given one of the notecards on the screen and then they will have to place it in a certain category. Other Evidence: I will test them first to see how much they know and how many words they can sort. I will write the information down since I will be working with the child individually and have the information for myself. Once I feel they have learned the standard and concepts, I will test them again and write down they number of words they categorized correctly and compare the differences.

Stage 3 Learning Plan

. Learning Activities: -First the client will practice matching the definitions of the common words that are going to be put into categories as well as the definitions of the specific categories. -They will use Quizlet on the iPad to match cards with definitions on them to cards with the words on them. -Once I see that they know those well and understand the differences between the categories and words we will move on. -I will then have some pictures of the different words, for example an apple and a circle, and show them to the client and have them explain what exactly it is to me. -Next, we will go back to using Quizlet on the iPad and start putting specific words into their correct categories. They will do this completely on their own and in the end it will let them know how many they got wrong and right. -We will go back over the note cards that the client missed together and discuss why they didnt understand those words. -We will continue to use Quizlet on the iPad until the client is correctly placing all of the words into their categories. -This will not only show me what they know and how well they can identify and sort common words, but it will also show them as they are doing it. -It will be a fun activity but it will also help them learn and understand words, their differences, and what category they fit into compared to other words.
