MEMORANDUM FOR GOMEZ SUPPORTERS FROM:WES ANDERSON RE: GOMEZ HAS A SLIGHT LEAD BUT ITS ANYBODYS BALL

L GAME DATE: 4/4/13 The results of our just completed survey show that Gabriel Gomez has a narrow lead, but this race is wide open and could be won by any of the three candidates. This survey of 500 likely GOP primary voters was conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, April 2-3. - 500 - 120 - 115 - 85 - 180 % Total 24.0 GOMEZ 23.0 SULLIVAN 17.0 WINSLOW 36.0 UNDECIDED

While the other two candidates started this race as known quantities in the political world, Gabriel started from scratch. These results clearly show that the Gomez message and his strategy of non-stop campaigning; in concert with his TV advertising is working quite well. There are several other reasons for great optimism. Republican voters are clearly more interested in a candidate with Gabriels background in the military and the private sector than they are in candidates with political experience. IN GENERAL, DO YOU PREFER A CANDIDATE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN IN POLITICS BUT HAS EXPERIENCE IN THE MILITARY AND PRIVATE SECTOR, OR DO YOU PREFER A CANDIDATE THAT ALREADY HAS POLITICAL EXPERIENCE IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE OR LOCAL OFFICE? - 500 - 248 - 147 - 18 - 32 - 55 % Total 49.6 NEVER IN POLITICS 29.4 POLITICAL EXPERIENCE 3.6 BOTH 6.4 NEITHER 11.0 DK/REFUSED

Finally, we asked likely Republican primary voters for their opinion of the Gomez plan to Reboot Congress and found that they are overwhelmingly supportive of his ideas. IF YOU KNEW THE FOLLOWING WERE TRUE ABOUT GABRIEL GOMEZ, WOULD IT MAKE YOU MORE OR LESS LIKELY TO VOTE FOR HIM FOR U.S. SENATOR IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY? Recently senate candidate Gabriel Gomez put out his Reboot Congress plan. In this plan he proposes a number of reforms designed to make Congress do their job. These reforms include a balanced budget amendment to the constitution, withholding Congressional pay when Congress fails to pass a budget on time and term limits for Congressmen and Senators. - 500 - 344 - 46 - 73 - 37 % Total 68.8 MORE LIKELY 9.2 LESS LIKELY 14.6 NO DIFFERENCE 7.4 DK/REFUSED

To our knowledge, this is the first substantial Republican primary survey conducted since the inception of this race. There was a March 19-21 survey paid for by WBUR that showed Mr. Sullivan with a lead, but that survey had a very small sample of GOP primary voters. It is possible that survey was accurate, and that the Gomez campaign momentum is very strong, particularly since the Gomez campaign is the only one engaged in TV advertising. Or it is possible that the small sample size of that survey made it unreliable. Either way, the momentum is all in favor of the Gomez campaign as of now.
