COIR LOGS

The product is a tubular (cylindrical) knitted mesh stuffed with coir fibre, used for erosion control on the banks of rivers and lakes. The knitted mesh or outer sleeve is made from machine-spun natural coir fibre twine. It can also be made from synthetic rope. The chief application is in erosion control on the banks of rivers and inland water bodies. Our product is positioned as a premium product over competing offerings, because of the consistency of density and the strength and quality of the outer sleeving (tube).

WOVEN COIR MESH

This mesh when applied over areas of loose eroding soil is ideally suited for holding soil and plants, and in many cases seed, in place, thus assisting to bind the treated area together during the growth period. Coir geotextiles have a very high tensile strength, water absorption capability and ability to break up run off topsoil. Coir also promotes new vegetation by absorbing water and helping to prevent the topsoil from drying out. Coir geotextiles absorb solar radiation in the same way as natural soil unlike many geosynthetic materials. They provide good solid support for up to five years allowing natural vegetation to take over.

EROSION CONTROL
Bioengineering is becoming the most effective and widely used remediation method for erosion problems. Bioengineering involves the use of vegetation in engineering design to protect natural terrain and manmade structures from soil erosion problems. Bioengineering techniques provide practical and costeffective solutions to many of the environmental concerns associated with infrastructure development. Slope stabilization and waterway bank stabilization are the main concerns of bioengineering applications. Many eroding sites lack or are free of vegetation due to construction clearance or unfavorable environmental conditions occurred either naturally or man made. NEEDLE PUNCHED COIR GEOTEXTILE

The product is manufactured on automated machinery lines by needling the coir fibre to produce a strong and resilient sheet that acts as a natural and organic physical barrier between the run off water and the soil. Seeds are planted in holes punched into the pad. As the seeds germinate, the roots of the plant grow and stabilize the soil. The pad protects the soil until the vegetation takes hold.
