Precautions
Alwaysfollowsafetyprecautionsandthemanufacturersdirectionswhenworkingwithconcentratedsolutionsofbleach(sodiumhypochlorite). Toavoidinjury,useappropriatepersonalprotectiveequipmentduringhandling(readthelabelandrefertothematerialsafetydatasheet). Chlorinebleachsolutionmightdamagesomesurfaces(e.g.,metals,someplastics)soitisadvisabletocheckwiththemanufacturerbeforeusing. Forchlorinebleachsolutiontobeeffectiveacertainamountofcontacttimewiththesurfaceisneeded.Contacttimevariesaccordingtowhatisbeingdisinfected. Alwaysaddthebleachtowater,notwatertothebleach. Nevermixammoniaproductswithbleachorbleachcontainingproducts.Thispracticeproduceschlorinegasaverytoxicgasthatcancauseseverebreathingproblems,chokingandpotentiallydeath. Tobemoreeffectiveprecleanthesurfacefirstbeforeusingthechlorinebleachsolution. Abottleofbleachhasashelflifesocheckthebottleforanexpirydateorwiththemanufacturerfortheshelflifeoftheproduct. Donotpremixthewaterandbleachsolution,asitlosespotencyovertime.
