Regiments and Corps


MAF regiments and corps can be divided into 3 groups based on their function and expertise. In addition there are a special task group and reserve group. Table below show the regiments and corps of the Malaysian Army and its insignia. Included is also the regiment and corps' vehicle identification symbols usually can be found on vehicles and artillery pieces. Please see Unit Identification Guide section if you need help on how to identify the unit using the vehicle identification symbols.

Corp Name

Combat Group Description The Royal Malay Regiment is oldest regiment in the MA. It admits only Malays following its namesake and forms the backbone of MA with 25 battalions total. For more information on RAMD battalions please see the Infantry Corps. The Royal Rangers Regiment has the oldest history starting with the formation of Sarawak Rangers in 1862. It's now the multi-racial version of the RAMD with a total strength of 9 battalions. For more information on RRD battalions please see the Infantry Corps. The Border Regiment is responsible for patrolling and securing the national border. It has 5 battalions formerly from Territorial Army 300series regiments. More. Kor Armor Diraja (KAD)

Rejimen Artileri Diraja (RAD)

Special Task Group Corp Name Description Special Forces Regiment operates behind enemy lines from the land, sea and air to disrupt and destroy the enemy facilities, gather intelligence Rejimen Gerak Khas (RGK) and work closely with the guerilla. RGK consists of 2 Commando Regiments and 1 Special Operation Forces Regiment. More. The Rapid Deployment Force is not a regiment or corps in the traditional sense. PAC comprises of paratroop infantry regiments and its support units. As it's namesake, element of this force can Pasukan Atur Cepat (PAC) be rapidly deployed thru air drops or amphibious landing.
